Potable and equitable drinking water (DW) is a fundamental human right and essential for human health. This study is conducted to assess the groundwater and jar water quality of the roadside restaurants and tea stalls used for drinking by the local people around the Gazipur City area in Bangladesh. Water samples from 173 restaurants and tea stalls are collected. The physico-chemical and biological parameters are analyzed according to the guidelines and standards. The results illustrate that the color, EC, and Mn of 41%, 80%, and 62% of the samples, respectively, exceed the WHO and Environmental Conservation Rules (ECR) standards. In addition, E. coli and total coliform exceeding the threshold standards are found in 47% and 64% of the water samples, respectively. The contamination of DW by fecal coliforms is confirmed and supported by prior studies, which indicates that the DW supplied in restaurants and tea stalls are unsafe because of the possible presence of pathogens. These may cause potential health hazards to consumers from various water-borne diseases. Poor sanitation, unhygienic practices, and improper disposal of wastewater are responsible for the microbial contamination of DW. So, the authorities in charge of these places should take the right regulatory steps, such as regular sanitation inspections, DW quality monitoring, hand-washing practices, and better sanitation in these places. 相似文献

Black carbon (BC) in ten contaminated sediments from the Song-Liao watershed, NE China, was isolated upon treatments using a combustion method at 375°C, and the isolates’ sorption isotherms for phenanthrene (Phen) were determined. All sorption isotherms were nonlinear and fitted well by the Freundlich model. A negative relation was found between Freundlich sorption nonlinearity parameter (n values) and BC/total organic carbon (TOC) content of the original sediments (r2=0.687, p<0.01), indicating the dominance of BC in Phen sorption nonlinearity. The BC isolates from this industrialized region had n values of 0.342 to 0.505 and logKFOC values of 6.02 to 6.42(μg·kg−1·OC−1)/(μg·L−1) n for Phen. At a given Ce, the BC had higher Koc value than the original sediments, revealing a higher sorption capacity for BC. BC was responsible for 50.0% to 87.3% of the total sorption at Ce=0.05 Sw, clearly indicating the dominance of BC particles in overall sorption of Phen by sediments. 相似文献

制备了Fe3O4-聚四氟乙烯(PTFE)电极,优化了原料配比和焙烧温度。对比了Fe3O4-PTFE单阴极和Fe3O4-PTFE与乙炔碳黑-PTFE电极并联双阴极体系对模拟Rhb染料废水的处理效果。实验结果表明:在m(Fe3O4)∶m(PTFE)=3.0∶2.5、焙烧温度为300 ℃的条件下制备Fe3O4-PTFE电极,采用阴极电-Fenton法降解模拟Rhb废水的效果最佳,电解反应120 min时Rhb降解率达86.91%;Fe3O4-PTFE电极与乙炔碳黑-PTFE电极并联作为双阴极电解Rhb废水时,最佳电压为6 V,最佳初始废水pH为3,在此条件下电解反应120 min时Rhb降解率达91.65%。 相似文献

Resource utilization of wasted black pulping liquor for biodiesel production by Scenedesmus obliquus
The possibility of application of black liquor for oil-riched algae cultivation is inspected. The results show that after ligin removal and enzymatic hydrolysis, the hydrolysate of black liquor contained 9.18 g L?1 of reducing sugar. When the hydrolysate was used for Scenedesmus obliquus (S. obliquus) cultivation, a 1.23 g L?1, 24.52%, and 23.20 mg L?1d?1 was obtained for growth yield, oil content, and the lipid productivity, seperately. The hemicellulose was extracted from black liquor and hydrolyzed. With addition of 3 g L?1 yeast extract, the growth yield of S. obliquus in hemicellulose hydrolysate increased to 2.7 g L?1, an increase of 26.8% than that of in glucose medium, oil content was 25.7% and the final lipid productivity reached 53.37 mg L?1d?1. The results indicate that black liquor can not be directly used by microalgae, but with approprate treatment, the carbohydrate of it could be recovered and uitilized for the oil production from microalgae. 相似文献
