The spatiotemporal distribution pattern of marine-origin matter on the Antarctica ice sheet was used to study variations in the source regions, transport mechanisms and postdepositional influences. We present data on sea salt ions, sulfur components and stable isotopes from surface and snow pit samples collected along the transect route from Zhongshan Station to Dome A during the austral summer in 2012–2013. A general decreasing trend in the accumulation, sea salt ions and sulfur components occurred with increasing distance from the coast and increasing elevation. However, different sources of the marine components, transport pathways and post-depositional influences were responsible for their different spatial distribution patterns. The marine ions in the coastal snow pit varied seasonally, with higher sea salt ion concentrations in the winter and lower concentrations in the summer; the opposite pattern was found for the sulfur compounds. The sea ice area surrounding Antarctica was the main source region for the deposited sea salt and the open sea water for the sulfur compounds. No significant trends in the marine-origin components were detected during the past 3 decades. Several periods of elevated deposition of sea salt ions were associated with lower temperatures(based on δD and δ18O) or intensified wind fields. In comparison to the sea salt ions, the sulfur concentrations exhibited the opposite distribution patterns and were associated with changes in the surrounding sea ice extent. 相似文献

本研究旨在了解东太湖水产养殖区表层沉积物中氨氧化微生物的群落特征.以编码氨单加氧酶的α亚基(amo A)基因为标记,通过实时荧光定量PCR技术(real-time q PCR)分析环境中好氧氨氧化原核生物的丰度;通过构建克隆文库、测序,进而划分操作分类单元(OTUs)构建系统发育树,分析氨氧化微生物的群落结构与多样性.分析养殖区和对照区表层沉积物中氨氧化微生物群落结构和多样性发现,养殖区中氨氧化细菌(ammonia-oxidizing bacteria,AOB)的丰度更高而对照区中氨氧化古菌(ammonia-oxidizing archaea,AOA)的丰度更高;AOA在养殖区多样性更高,AOB在对照区多样性更高;AOA在养殖区和对照区沉积物中的优势类群均为Nitrosopumilus,AOB在养殖区和对照区沉积物中的优势类群相同均为亚硝化螺旋菌属(Nitrosospira).水产养殖主要通过影响沉积物中的氨氮含量来影响AOA和AOB的丰度,养殖过程会影响AOA的群落结构而对AOB的群落结构则无明显影响. 相似文献

Utility rights-of-way corridors through wetland areas generate long-term impacts from construction activities to these valuable ecosystems. Changes to and recovery of the vegetation communities of a cattail marsh, wooded swamp, and shrub/bog wetland were documented through measurements made each growing season for two years prior, five years following, and again on the tenth year after construction of a 345-kV transmission line. While both the cattail marsh and wooded swamp recovered within a few years, measures of plant community composition in the shrub/bog wetland were still lower, compared to controls, after ten years. Long-term investigations such as the one reported here help decrease uncertainty and provide valuable information for future decision making regarding construction of power utility lines through valuable and dwindling wetland resources. 相似文献

Coevolution is defined as specialized relationships between species that lead to a reciprocal evolutionary change. A particularly
suitable model system for studying coevolution is the interactions between obligate avian brood parasites and their hosts.
The common cuckoo (Cuculus canorus, hereafter cuckoo) is a well-known brood parasite, which utilizes a range of smaller passerines as hosts. However, warblers
of the genus Hippolais have rarely been reported as being victims of cuckoos, and furthermore, few data exist on the occurrence of antiparasite
defenses in these hosts. In this study, we examined possible host–parasite coevolution between cuckoos and eastern olivaceous
warblers (Hippolais pallida elaeica, hereafter olivaceous warblers) in three closely situated areas in northwestern Bulgaria. The olivaceous warbler has never
been reported to be a regular cuckoo host. However, the present study, carried out in 2001–2003 shows that the olivaceous
warbler is regularly and heavily parasitized by the cuckoo in this area. Parasitism rate was high (26.6%, 34/128) and consistent
among years, with some variation between areas. The cuckoo egg mimicry was moderately good, and olivaceous warbler rejection
rate of such eggs was 50%. Cuckoo eggs laid in olivaceous warbler nests had a whitish to whitish-green ground color, and the
majority appeared to be distinctly different from cuckoo eggs found in other host species in the area. The olivaceous warbler
proved to be a rather good host for cuckoos as 20.6% (7/34) of cuckoo eggs laid produced fledglings, a breeding success comparable
to other suitable hosts in Europe. This is the first in-depth study of brood parasitism in a warbler of the genus Hippolais, and cuckoos parasitizing olivaceous warblers probably represent a previously unknown gens. 相似文献

Reliable catch information is scarce for most sharks and rays worldwide, with almost half of the stocks considered to be Data Deficient due to limited species-specific catch statistics. Western Australia (WA) hosts a diverse number of shark and ray species, some of which are considered to be threatened with extinction at a global level. Commercial catch statistics only account for shark and ray landings. The present study used the best available information to reconstruct unaccounted and unreported catches for 47 shark and ray taxa to better understand the impact of fishing. For some species, there was good agreement between reconstructed catches and reported landings, but overall reconstructed catches were 57% higher than those derived from official statistics alone, underestimating the actual extraction level for many species. The accumulation of fluorine in the trunk wood and branches of Larix gmelinii growing on soils with a naturally increased fluoride content and of L. sibirica growing in a zone affected by atmospheric emissions from an aluminum plant has been studied. Based on results of in vivo and in vitro experiments, it is concluded that larch trees manifest individual differences in their response to fluorine. 相似文献
