This experimental work has been conducted to compare the performance of the modified stills with that of the conventional still. Three modified stills (S1, S2, and S3) and conventional still (S4) were fabricated, each with 0.5 m2 of the basin area. S1 and S3 had transparent double glass walls with air in between acting as insulation, whereas S2 has a single transparent wall. S4 has insulated plywood walls painted black from inside. A mixture of coco peat and charcoal was used in S1, S2, and S3, whereas there was no basin material for S4. Experiments were conducted by changing the water quantity in the solar still ranging from 5 to 10 kg. Maximum distillate output of 5.46 l/m2-d was obtained for S2, whereas it was 3.80 l/m2-d for S4 for an average solar radiation intensity of 675 W/m2 (24.3 MJ/m2-d). Use of transparent walls with troughs to collect condensate increased the condenser area by 78.4%. The distillate water cost per liter was estimated as Rs. 0.86 (0.013 US$) and Rs. 1.61 (0.025 US$) for S2 and S4, respectively. Energy payback time for S2 was estimated as 4 months. Theoretical and experimental values showed that there is a significant loss of incoming solar radiation due to wall shadow.  相似文献

隧道通风数值计算中定义壁面粗糙程度的参数由粗糙高度和粗糙常数构成,参数的选取很难利用数学推导的方式进行研究。依托衢宁铁路鹫峰山隧道的施工通风项目,采用数值模拟并结合现场实测数据研究了隧道内壁面粗糙度的评定方法、取值和工程应用。结果表明:隧道壁面平均粗糙高度由隧道内实际开挖轮廓线和设计开挖轮廓线之间包络的面积与取样长度的比值确定,计算得到了隧道横断面平均粗糙高度为0. 191 m,纵向平均粗糙高度为0. 231 m;建立了粗糙常数Rc与粗糙单元间距、形状的关系,同时得到基本模型对应的Rc计算公式;基于典型理想壁面模型,以原模型面积减去理想模型的面积(绝对值)除以原模型面积所得值最小定义了最优简化模型,提出了关于壁面粗糙常数取值的计算方法,并以此计算出鹫峰山隧道壁面粗糙常数Rc为0.46。最终根据Rh和Rc的取值,采用三维数值模拟,分析了隧道内CO质量浓度不同时间段的分布规律。由于压入式通风自身的缺陷(无法突破长度瓶颈),且受现场布置及施工方式所限,通风距离超过3 000 m很难满足施工条件的需要,无法达到规定的洞内作业环境条件。因此,急需对现有的通风方式进行优化和调整。  相似文献

以某电厂的主蒸汽管道为例,对其支吊架进行冷、热态检验,发现炉侧连续恒力吊架冷态时指针卡死下极限位置,热态时实际垂直热位移值较小,与设计严重不符。根据现场情况和应力计算结果综合分析,发现管道壁厚存在严重误差导致管道下沉。针对以上情况,首次提出了支吊架配置改造方案需要考虑的4个方面,给解决此类问题提供帮助。  相似文献

Objective: Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) high-hooded side impacts were analyzed for matched vehicle tests with and without side airbags. The comparison provides a measure of the effectiveness of side airbags in reducing biomechanical responses for near-side occupants struck by trucks, SUVs, and vans at 50 km/h.

Method: The IIHS moving deformable barrier (MDB) uses a high-hooded barrier face. It weighs 1,500 kg and impacts the driver side perpendicular to the vehicle at 50 km/h. SID IIs dummies are placed in the driver and left second-row seats. They represent fifth percentile female occupants.

IIHS tests were reviewed for matches with one test with a side airbag and another without it in 2003–2007 model year (MY) vehicles. Four side airbag systems were evaluated: (1) curtain and torso side airbags, (2) head and torso side airbag, (3) curtain side airbag, and (4) torso side airbag.

There were 24 matched IIHS vehicle tests: 13 with and without a curtain and torso side airbags, 4 with and without a head and torso side airbag, 5 with and without a side curtain airbag, and 2 with and without a torso airbag. The head, chest, and pelvis responses were compared for each match and the average difference was determined across all matches for a type of side airbag.

Results: The average reduction in head injury criterion (HIC) was 68 ± 16% (P < .001) with curtain and torso side airbags compared to the HIC without side airbags. The average HIC was 296 with curtain and torso side airbags and 1,199 without them. The viscous response (VC) was reduced 54 ± 19% (P < .005) with curtain and torso side airbags. The combined acetabulum and ilium force (7 ± 15%) and pelvic acceleration (?2 ± 17%) were essentially similar in the matched tests.

The head and torso side airbag reduced HIC by 42 ± 30% (P < .1) and VC by 32 ± 26% compared to vehicles without a side airbag. The average HIC was 397 with the side head and torso airbag compared to 729 without it. The curtain airbag and torso airbag only showed lower head responses but essentially no difference in the chest and pelvis responses.

Conclusion: The curtain and torso side airbags effectively reduced biomechanical responses for the head and chest in 50 km/h side impacts with a high-hooded deformable barrier. The reductions in the IIHS tests are directionally the same as estimated fatality reductions in field crashes reported by NHTSA for side airbags.  相似文献

India ranks as the sixth largest producer of iron ore in the world. The current practice of washing iron ore in India generates as high as 18 million tonnes of tailings per year. These tailings are stored in massive ponds and pose environmental hazards. Safe disposal or utilisation of these materials thus remains a challenging task for the iron ore industry in India. The present paper describes a new development in managing these tailings by converting them into value added products such as ceramic floor and wall tiles for building application. These tiles have high strength and hardness compared to conventional tiles and conform to most of the EN standards. Energy economy and lower production costs are some other benefits.  相似文献

根据现浇混凝土结构与装配混凝土结构的耗能特点,建立了底部开缝后张拉预应力摇摆剪力墙结构模型,并采用数值模拟方法研究其抗震耗能性能,分析分布钢筋、预应力水平、轴压力等参数对其力学性能的影响,并与同类型整体现浇剪力墙进行了对比分析。结果表明:底部开缝后张拉预应力摇摆剪力墙结构具有一定的耗能能力,虽然相对于现浇剪力墙结构,其承载力较低,但变形能力较强,墙体损伤和残余变形较小,并且具有较好的自复位能力。  相似文献

Cathode ray tube (CRT) glass is considered a hazardous material due to its lead toxicity. In addition, current disposal practices are being phased out due to their adverse environmental impacts. In this project, CRT glass was used as a fine aggregate replacement in concrete. Life-cycle material characterization was conducted by evaluating the durability and strength of the CRT-Concrete. Leaching tests were also conducted to investigate whether the material meets drinking water limits for Pb. Test results show that the plastic state of the CRT-Concrete was affected by the angularity of the glass particles. Moreover, the compressive strength of CRT-Concrete met and exceeded that of the control specimen. However, CRT-Concrete was susceptible to expansive alkali-silica reactions when more than 10% CRT replacement was used. Environmental leaching results show that lead concentrations from CRT-Concrete are below the drinking water limits depending on the CRT volume replacement and if biopolymers are used.  相似文献

针对现有防火分隔技术的不足,以细水雾幕作为新的防火分隔技术,开展了不同细水雾幕雾特性对衰减热辐射影响的数值模拟研究。通过建立长通道模型,在火源和被保护物体中间设置细水雾幕系统,测量有无细水雾幕及不同细水雾特性条件下被保护侧温度及热辐射强度值,来定性定量研究细水雾幕衰减热辐射的效率。模拟结果表明:细水雾幕可以很好的降低被保护侧空间的温度和热辐射强度;衰减热辐射效率随雾滴粒径的减小,喷雾流量的增大,喷头排数增加而增大;另外,其衰减热辐射效率与喷头布置方式有关,上喷方式明显优于下喷方式。研究结果将对现有防火分隔技术的改善提供帮助和技术支持。  相似文献
