Urban Air Pollution Patterns, Land Use, and Thermal Landscape: An Examination of the Linkage Using GIS 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
This article investigates the relationship of local air pollution pattern with urban land use and with urban thermal landscape
using a GIS approach. Ambient air quality measurements for sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxide, carbon monoxide, total suspended
particles, and dust level were obtained for Guangzhou City in South China between 1981 and 2000. Landsat TM images and aerial
photo derived maps were used to examine city's land use and land cover at different times and changes. Landsat thermal infrared
data were employed to compute land surface temperatures and to assess urban thermal patterns. Relationships among the spatial
patterns of air pollution, land use, and thermal landscape were sought through GIS and correlation analyses. Results show
that the spatial patterns of air pollutants probed were positively correlated with urban built-up density, and with satellite
derived land surface temperature values, particularly with measurements taken during the summer. It is suggested that further
studies investigate the mechanisms of this linkage, and that remote sensing of air pollution delves into how the energy interacts
with the atmosphere and the environment and how sensors see pollutants. Thermal infrared imagery could play a unique role
in monitoring and modeling atmospheric pollution. 相似文献

To reveal the mechanism of information loss in the flow of safety information, and to derive an evaluation method for describing this information loss, this paper analyzes the flow of safety information based on research in safety informatics and cognitive psychology. Theoretical analysis shows that the flow of safety information can be divided into four stages: transformation, transmission, perception, and cognition. This paper describes a simplified model of the flow of safety information based on these four stages. Then, the concept of adaptive subjects is introduced, and the sources and losses of safety information are explored. In addition, a model of safety information flow loss is constructed. This model is used to analyze the connection between the information loss at each stage of the sharing process, and then a “ladder hierarchical” model for the loss of safety information is developed. Comprehensive analysis of this ladder hierarchical model of safety information leads to a formal mathematical model of safety information loss. Finally, according to the various development stages of the safety information sharing process, four key factors that affect the multilevel information loss of the safety information sharing process are extracted by the hierarchical method. 相似文献

Abstract: As one of the primary inputs that drive watershed dynamics, the estimation of spatial variability of precipitation has been shown to be crucial for accurate distributed hydrologic modeling. In this study, a Geographic Information System program, which incorporates Nearest Neighborhood (NN), Inverse Distance Weighted (IDW), Simple Kriging (SK), Ordinary Kriging (OK), Simple Kriging with Local Means (SKlm), and Kriging with External Drift (KED), was developed to facilitate automatic spatial precipitation estimation. Elevation and spatial coordinate information were used as auxiliary variables in SKlm and KED methods. The above spatial interpolation methods were applied in the Luohe watershed with an area of 5,239 km2, which is located downstream of the Yellow River basin, for estimating 10 years’ (1991‐2000) daily spatial precipitation using 41 rain gauges. The results obtained in this study show that the spatial precipitation maps estimated by different interpolation methods have similar areal mean precipitation depth, but significantly different values of maximum precipitation, minimum precipitation, and coefficient of variation. The accuracy of the spatial precipitation estimated by different interpolation methods was evaluated using a correlation coefficient, Nash‐Sutcliffe efficiency, and relative mean absolute error. Compared with NN and IDW methods that are widely used in distributed hydrologic modeling systems, the geostatistical methods incorporated in this GIS program can provide more accurate spatial precipitation estimation. Overall, the SKlm_EL_X and KED_EL_X, which incorporate both elevation and spatial coordinate as auxiliary into SKlm and KED, respectively, obtained higher correlation coefficient and Nash‐Sutcliffe efficiency, and lower relative mean absolute error than other methods tested. The GIS program developed in this study can serve as an effective and efficient tool to implement advanced geostatistics methods that incorporate auxiliary information to improve spatial precipitation estimation for hydrologic models. 相似文献
