The concentrations of sediment and turbidity in stream water were monitored during culvert removals to determine the short term effects of road obliteration. Sediment concentration was measured at 11 stream crossings among two locations in Idaho and one in Washington. Sediment concentration immediately below the culvert outlet exceeded levels above the culvert outlet by at least three orders of magnitude at all stream crossings. Sediment yields ranged from 170 to less than 1kg in the 24-h period following culvert removal. Turbidity exceeded the regulatory limits during culvert removal at all locations monitored in this study and remained above the limits beyond the monitoring periods of 24h at four of the locations. Sediment concentrations 100m downstream of the culvert outlet were reduced by an order of magnitude, but did not change the turbidity values sufficiently to meet regulatory limits. Sediment concentrations an average of 810m downstream of the culvert outlet were similar to sediment concentrations above the culvert for the entire excavation period and turbidity regulations were met. Mitigation consisting of two straw bales placed in the stream caused a significant reduction in sediment yield from an average of 67kg to an average of 1.6kg.  相似文献

Numerous road and railway construction projects include costly mitigation measures to offset the barrier effect produced on local fauna, despite the scarcity of data on the effectiveness of such mitigation measures. In this study, we evaluate the utility of different types of crossing structures. Vertebrate use of 43 transverse crossing structures along the A-52 motorway (north-western Spain) was studied during spring 2001. Research centered on wildlife passages (9), wildlife-adapted box culverts (7), functional passages (6 overpasses, 7 underpasses) and culverts (14), with marble dust being used to record animal tracks. A total of 424 track-days were recorded, with most of the larger vertebrate groups present in the area being detected. All crossing structure types were used by animals, although the intensity of use varied significantly among them (Kruskal-Wallis test, p<0.05); culverts were used less frequently than other structures. Crossing structure type and width were identified as the most important factors in their selection for use. Wildlife passages and adapted culverts allowed crossing by certain species (wild boar, roe deer, Eurasian badger), which do not tend to cross elsewhere. These results highlight the importance of using both mixed-type structures and wildlife passages in reducing the barrier effect of roads.  相似文献

当今驾驶疲劳已成为引发交通事故的主要原因,但由于其形成原因复杂,监测技术和手段都还不成熟。驾驶疲劳客观监测技术是目前研究的热点,主要包括对驾驶员脑电图、心电图、眼睑眨动、头部运动轨迹、方向盘的运动、车辆行驶方向等的监测技术。由于上述监测技术都存在一定的局限性,因此,笔者认为,今后的研究应该从以下4个方面着手进行:①研制非接触性高灵敏度传感器;②寻求新的监测指标和方法;③将多传感器信息融合技术应用于监测技术中;④研制高性价比的监测装置。  相似文献

使用1999—2016年0.01°×0.01°高空间分辨率的卫星反演PM2.5浓度数据集,结合精度为1 km×1 km的人口栅格数据,分析了"一带一路"沿线65个国家PM2.5污染与暴露风险的时空变化特征.结果表明:①PM2.5浓度存在着明显的区域分布差异,PM2.5浓度高值区(>35 μg·m-3)主要分布在地形平坦、人口密集的恒河平原、华北平原和中南半岛等区域,中值区(10~35 μg·m-3)主要集中在俄罗斯西部、中东欧、沙特东部和缅甸等区域,而低值区(<10 μg·m-3)主要分布在高海拔、高纬度与荒漠化地区,如青藏高原、西伯利亚、西亚卢特沙漠等区域;②65国年均PM2.5浓度从1999年的12.0 μg·m-3上升到2016年的14.1 μg·m-3,年均增长超过0.1 μg·m-3,累计有22.5%的区域有显著的增加趋势,仅有5.2%的区域呈显著下降趋势;③2000—2016年,PM2.5浓度在35 μg·m-3以上的区域面积比重从2.2%上升到7.2%,暴露人口占比从18.9%增加至41.9%;④人口暴露风险平均值从2000年的665.2增加至2016年的1140.4,Hurst总体均值为0.59,其中大于0.5的持续性区域占82.3%,持续性特征以弱持续性为主.  相似文献

为识别和量化国际贸易的环境效应,推动绿色“一带一路”建设,基于环境经济投入产出模型,利用贸易和污染物排放强度数据,核算了中国与东盟进出口贸易中包含的环境成本,并利用冗余分析探索了影响环境成本的主要社会经济因子.结果表明:①2010年中国与东盟的贸易期间,中国在工业废气、烟尘、二氧化硫、固体废物的排放上存在污染逆差,分别为3 600×108 m3、3.8×104 t、19.7×104 t和9.8×104 t;但在工业废水和粉尘的排放上存在顺差,分别为5 400×104和1.1×104 t.②重度污染产业贸易均呈污染顺差,中度污染产业贸易的污染逆差最大,轻度污染产业贸易呈现较小的污染顺差.③中国与东盟中低收入国家的贸易造成污染顺差,而与中高收入国家的贸易则实现了污染逆差.④冗余分析结果显示,影响我国进口贸易中环境成本的主要因子为城市化率和工业产值占GDP比重,说明我国从东盟发达的工业国进口了含大量环境成本的工业品,而影响我国出口贸易中环境成本的主要因子为出口额,表明我国向欠发达国家出口了大量的初级工业品.因此,我国应加强技术创新,提高污染排放标准,减少重度污染产业的污染排放强度,同时优化出口结构,避免成为“污染避难所”.   相似文献

Levels of total suspended particles, PM10, PM2.5 and PM1 were continuously monitored at an urban kerbside in the Metropolitan area of Barcelona from June 1999 to June 2000. The results show that hourly levels of PM2.5 and PM1 are consistent with the daily cycle of gaseous pollutants emitted by traffic, whereas TSP and PM10 do not follow the same trend, at least in the diurnal period. The PM2.5/PM10 ratio is dependent on the traffic emissions, whereas additional contribution sources for the >10 μm fraction must be taken into account in the diurnal period. Different PM10 and PM2.5 source apportionment techniques were compared. A methodology based on the chemical determination of 83% of both PM10 and PM2.5 masses allowed us to quantify the marine (4% in PM10 and <1% in PM2.5), crustal (26% in PM10 and 8% in PM2.5) and anthropogenic (54% in PM10 and 73% in PM2.5) loads. Peaks of crustal contribution to PM10 (up to 44% of the PM10 mass) were recorded under Saharan air mass intrusions. A different seasonal trend was observed for levels of sulphate and nitrate, probably as a consequence of the different thermodynamic behaviour of these PM species and the higher summer oxidation rate of SO2.  相似文献

Introduction: Motor-vehicle crashes are a leading cause of death in adolescence and young adults. A multitude of factors, including skill level, inexperience, and risk taking behaviors are associated with young drivers’ crashes. This research investigated whether combinations of factors underlie crashes involving young drivers. Method: A retrospective longitudinal study was conducted on population-wide one- and two-car crashes in Great Britain during years 2005–2012 per driver age (17–20, 21–29, 30–39, 40–49) and sex. Reporting officers provided their assessment of the factors contributing to crashes. Principal components analysis was conducted to identify combinations of factors underlying young drivers’ crashes. Factor combinations, including challenging driving conditions, risk taking behaviors, and inexperience were implicated in young drivers’ crashes. Results: Combinations of factors reveal new insights into underlying causes of crashes involving young drivers. One combination revealed that slippery roads due to poor weather pose greater risk to young drivers who are inexperienced and likely to exceed the appropriate speed. The findings motivate new policy recommendations, such as educating young drivers about the importance of adjusting their speed to the road conditions.  相似文献
