Wetland boundary and land-use planning in southern Ontario,Canada   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
There is a general lack of understanding of wetland processes and a general paucity of scientific research to predict the effects of development on wetland boundary. This paper presents the results of a survey of wetland managers as to how they delineate wetland boundaries, define compatible land uses, and restrict land uses adjacent to wetland boundaries. A major finding from the survey is that 75% of land-use planners and wetland managers failed to identify any compatible land use or restricted land use for development proposals that may affect provincially significant wetlands. The government agencies overwhelmingly lack adequate methodologies and/or criteria to delineate and protect wetland boundaries. The paper closes with a plea to consider dynamic hydrological factors in land-use planning.  相似文献

Despite its potential for advancing organizational behavior (OB) research, the topic of death awareness has been vastly understudied. Moreover, research on death awareness has predominantly focused on the anxiety‐provoking aspect of death‐related cognitions, thus overlooking the positive aspect of death awareness, death reflection. This gap is exacerbated by the lack of a valid research instrument to measure death reflection. To address this issue, we offer a systematic conceptualization of death reflection, develop the Death Reflection Scale, and assess its psychometric properties across four studies. Further, using a sample of 268 firefighters, we examine whether death reflection buffers the detrimental impact of mortality cues at work on employee well‐being and safety performance. Results provide strong support for the psychometric properties of the Death Reflection Scale. Further, moderation analysis indicates death reflection weakens the negative effect of mortality cues on firefighters' safety performance. Overall, these findings suggest the newly developed Death Reflection Scale will prove useful in future research on death‐related cognitions.  相似文献

由温室气体引起的全球变暖问题已引起国际社会的普遍关注,随着全球变暖成为社会关注的热点,碳足迹成为一个新的研究方法并迅速得到学术界的认可。本文从碳足迹的起源和各种定义入手,系统阐述了碳足迹的概念,并从不同角度探讨了碳足迹的各种分类。本文重点介绍了碳足迹的计算方法,主要包括投入产出分析方法、生命周期评价法、IPCC计算方法和碳足迹计算器等四大类,并总结和比较了四种方法的优缺点。在此基础上,对国内外相关研究系统地进行了归纳和总结,客观分析和评价了当前碳足迹的研究现状和存在的问题。本文还介绍了目前国际上四个主要的碳足迹评估标准:英国的PAS2050:2008标准、世界可持续发展商业协会和世界资源研究院共同发起制定的GHG议定书、日本的标准仕样书TS Q0010标准和ISO14067标准,并以GHG议定书和PAS2050两个标准为例分析了进行碳足迹评估的重要前提———边界界定问题。最后对碳足迹研究的重点领域和发展方向进行了展望。  相似文献

In 2006, Bruno the bear wandered onto German soil—the first brown bear in 170 years—where he was shot, killed, taxidermied, and put on display (his presence recently resurfaced due to the 2010 Wikileaks). Bruno served as a queer beast in the anthropogenic landscape where he challenged boundaries of what is permissible, and normal. By refusing to honor borders and cultural norms, he disrupted our human sense of control of the landscape. In response to Bruno's unruly presence, humans in turn appropriated him, fixed him as a cipher to fill with their own constructs of wildness and animality, and then deployed those cultural articulations. Performing a critical visual analysis, this paper explores how the anxiety Bruno evoked fixed his queer, hirsute frame as a taxidermied cipher representing discipline, fetishization, and a critique of power. Bruno became an imaginary wild whose presence rhetorically queered the geographical and political landscape.  相似文献

Annual cycle phenomena taking place in the nesting part of the range, such as dates of migration and breeding and molting pattern, have been studied in the wood warbler in northwestern Russia, at the boundary of its nesting range. Four networks of wind data are used to construct the first systematic estimates of the horizontal diffusivity from observations of submeso motions on scales often unresolved in numerical models. Currently, the horizontal diffusivity in numerical models is specified mainly for numerical reasons without observational support. The data analysis in this study emphasizes the stable boundary layer although results are briefly presented for the unstable boundary layer. The horizontal diffusivity is estimated from the horizontal gradient and the observed flux. Horizontal gradients of scalars are generally difficult to directly estimate from observations with sufficient accuracy for much of the data. As an alternative, simulated particles with conservative properties are introduced into the observed wind field in order to estimate the horizontal diffusivity for submeso motions. The sensitivity of the horizontal diffusivity to details of the method is examined. The horizontal diffusivity increases with the range of time and space scales that are included in the evaluation. The horizontal diffusivity is much larger with significant topography and may increase with wind speed, depending on the site location. The coarse station spacing or the small domain size is found to be a major limitation to the analysis.  相似文献

The lack of uniform techniques for estimating design discharges in ungaged areas is a source of growing concern in the courts now faced with challenges to floodplain boundaries and culvert design for highway crossings. This paper summarizes a court case in which calculations of the design discharge and the hydraulic backwater effects of a major highway culvert were contested by the plaintiff. Emphasis in the paper is placed on the variation in computed flows and the interpretation of the court in the face of diverse hydrologic methods for the ungaged watershed. The results of a preliminary evaluation of ungaged watershed methods applicable to Pennsylvania are also reported in terms of standard error and bias.  相似文献

利用2007年10月10日~2008年9月30日天津边界层气象观测塔得到的PM2.5质量浓度、O3和NO2体积分数等梯度资料,对比分析了不同高度上各污染物数据统计特征,并对各污染物数据的时间变化特征及垂直分布进行了讨论.结果表明,天津市PM2.5污染严重,且易发生光化学污染事件.各高度层PM2.5浓度在12、1和2月份存在较大差异,其他月份差异较小;O3体积分数均表现出夏季高冬季低的典型特征;NO2体积分数在220m高度处变化较为复杂且全年波动较大,120m处变化平稳,40m处则表现出春夏季高、秋冬季低的特点.PM2.5体积分数和NO2体积分数日变化均呈现双峰型,峰值的出现与早晚出行高峰以及边界层的变化有关,且污染物出现峰值的时间由低到高存在2~3h的延迟.O3体积分数与太阳辐射强度关系密切,各层均在14:00前后达到最大,而夜间的还原反应使各层臭氧体积分数下降.40m和120m处NO2体积分数变化较为一致,全天波动很小,而220m处波动较大,昼夜差异明显.  相似文献

利用2016—2019年广州增城风廓线雷达资料、地面气象站资料及附近广州九龙镇污染物浓度数据,研究了广州边界层局地回流指数R廓线对污染物浓度变化的影响,并综合分析了造成污染日或污染过程的R廓线及其阈值.结果表明,污染物浓度变化与局地回流指数R呈负相关及负滞后相关,负相关系数随高度的升高而下降.污染物NO2浓度变化与局地回流指数R的负相关性最高,污染物O3浓度变化与局地回流指数R的负相关性最低.不同季节、不同污染物浓度与局地回流指数R的负相关性有差异.当局地回流指数R(平均)<0.3的厚度大于400 m或至少3个高度层(每层高度差60 m)R<0.28时,发生复合型污染过程的可能性增大,同时可能出现超过7 d的长时间污染过程.  相似文献
