Abstract: The ability of a population to adapt to changing environments depends critically on the amount and kind of genetic variability it possesses. Mutations are an important source of new genetic variability and may lead to new adaptations, especially if the population size is large. Mutation rates are extremely variable between and within species, and males usually have higher mutation rates as a result of elevated rates of male germ cell division. This male bias affects the overall mutation rate. We examined the factors that influence male mutation bias, and focused on the effects of classical life‐history parameters, such as the average age at reproduction and elevated rates of sperm production in response to sexual selection and sperm competition. We argue that human‐induced changes in age at reproduction or in sexual selection will affect male mutation biases and hence overall mutation rates. Depending on the effective population size, these changes are likely to influence the long‐term persistence of a population. 相似文献

A series of novel azacrown ether Schiff bases 1–3 have been synthesized in good yield and in a simple way. Their host–guest interaction with [60]fullerene has been studied in toluene by absorption spectroscopic method. All the complexes are found to be stable with 1:1 stoichiometry. Because of their potential applications in industry, agriculture and medicine, they were investigated for their mutagenic and antimutagenic activities using the spot test and the plate incorporation assay of Ames. Compounds 1, 2 and 3 were found to be nonmutagenic in the Ames test using strains TA 1535, TA100 and TA97a of Salmonella typhimurium. However, using strain TA102 revealed that, although both compounds 1 and 2 were nonmutagenic, compound 2 gave a positive response indicating that it acts as an oxidative mutagen. The structure-activity relationship may throw some light on the biological activity of such series of compounds. 相似文献

The physical and chemical properties of humic acids (HA) extracted from drinking waters from the endemic arsenicosis areas in Inner Mongolia and from the Blackfoot disease (BD) areas in Taiwan are studied by using AAS (atomic absorption spectrophotometry), ICP-MS (inductively coupled plasma emission-mass spectrometry), IR (Infrared spectroscopy), FR (fluorescence spectrometry) and TLS (total luminescence spectroscopy) in order to shed light on the pathogenesis of BD with the concern as to whether the disease may eventually occur in arsenicosis-affected areas in the Mainland of China. Ames test and lipid peroxidation experiments were also conducted on these HA samples. It is found that water samples from the two regions are high in arsenic (As) with strong fluorescence and apparent positive correlations between As content, fluorescence, pH and total dissolved solids (TDS). The water samples are similar in fluorescence spectra but differ somewhat in IR and TLS between the two regions. The difference may be a reflection of the difference in radicals and structure of the HA owing to different hydrogeological conditions, and may also be related to the difference in their biological effects, i.e., HA from Inner Mongolia have a stronger ability to cause lipid peroxidation while HA from Taiwan exhibits a more prominent effect of mutation with respect to TA98(±S9). 相似文献

采用He-Ne激光器对绿针假单胞菌(Pseudomonas chlororaphis)进行激光诱变育种。在激光照射功率10 mW,时间10 min条件下,筛选到一株遗传性状稳定的高效石油烃降解菌PS 2。摇瓶实验发现当培养液中初始柴油含量为0.2%~0.5%(V/V)、温度为30℃左右、pH值为7~8的条件下,突变菌PS 2对石油烃的降解效果最好。在最适生长条件下,突变菌PS 2在120 h内将培养液中的石油烃完全降解且不存在延滞期,比出发菌株少用24 h。结果表明,He-Ne激光诱变育种技术是获得高效石油烃降解菌的有效途径之一。 相似文献

从长期施用对硫磷的土壤中筛选分离出1株能以对硫磷为唯一C源的菌株D10,研究微生物对有机磷农药的降解作用.鉴定表明,D10为不动杆菌属(Acinetobacter sp.)微生物,该菌株对农药对硫磷的最大耐受质量浓度为1 800 mg/L,但D10对农药对硫磷的降解率仅为25%.本文通过D10诱变复壮试验提高对硫磷降解率,结果表明,经紫外线(18 W)辐照10 s后,D10对农药对硫磷降解率提高至49.1%; 用0.8%盐酸羟胺溶液振荡处理30 min后,降解率为69.6%; 用60%土壤浸出液振荡培养48 h后,降解率为53.9%.对D10进行上述条件下的复合诱变,对硫磷降解率可达到82.8%.高效降解菌的选育为提高微生物对农药的降解奠定了基础.此外,通过改进有机磷农药萃取的前处理方法,使紫外分光光度法检测简便、精确,与气相色谱法检测结果拟合较好,具有一定实用价值. 相似文献

针对公共场所集群事件,利用突变理论对其预警级别进行研究。选择2005—2008年发生的具有比较典型的集群事件为样本;考虑公共建筑饱和度、人群情绪指标、建筑管理指标和安全事故隐患等因素建立指标体系;运用尖点突变和蝴蝶突变模型进行突变级数的分析和评价,得到预警分级突变级数的大致范围;并运用一个公共场所集群事件发生时预警级别判断的实例进行说明。实例表明,利用突变理论模型,可以为公共场所管理者在人群安全监控决策方面提供初步的预警信息。 相似文献

从泄漏污染的加油站土壤中筛选出对汽油具有较强降解能力的菌株,研究该菌株最适宜的生长条件,探讨紫外线诱导及投加表面活性剂等强化手段对该菌株降解汽油的影响.结果表明:①通过富集培养的方法分离得到的菌株Q18,经形态特征及生理生化特征鉴定,初步确定其为红球菌(Rhodococcus sp.).②菌株Q18在培养液中适宜生长的温度,pH和底物质量浓度分别为35 ℃,6.0和1 000 mg/L.③通过紫外线照射诱变后的菌株降解能力强于原始菌株,且15 W紫外灯对菌株的诱变效果优于30 W;氯化锂单独诱变效果不明显;经紫外灯照射和氯化锂复合诱变的菌株QY4对汽油的降解率达到了52.2%,在所有诱变菌中最高,效果最显著. ④表面活性剂能增强汽油的生物可利用性,强化菌株Q18对汽油的降解,但阴离子和非离子的混合表面活性剂SDS+TX-100和SDS+TW-80比单一表面活性剂更能有效提高菌株Q18对汽油的降解率. 相似文献
