An aircraft-based measurement campaign was conducted during the summer of 1996 in the vicinity of Toronto, Canada. The objective of the campaign was to assess the errors in a particular emission inventory used by three-dimensional air quality models. Measurements of NO2 and hydrocarbons were made both upwind and downwind of Toronto, on days with strong synoptic-scale flow from a west to northerly direction. The chemical composition of the background airmass on these days was typical of unpolluted continental air. Measurements have been compared with the output from an on-line air quality model (MC2-AQ) run at 5 km resolution and suggest that emissions of NOx from Toronto are well described in the emission database, though evidence that NOx emissions are underestimated for suburban regions surrounding Toronto was found. In general, no significant underestimation of hydrocarbon emissions was found, though emissions of the model propane species, which includes acetylene and benzene, was underestimated by at least a factor of two. 相似文献

Simultaneous investigation of environmental emissions and machining aspects of electrical discharge machining process is essential for achieving hygienic and efficient machining. The main objective of the present work is to experimentally investigate and analyze the aerosol emission rate and the material removal rate from a die sinking electrical discharge machining process for three commonly used work piece materials viz., tool steel, mild steel and aluminum using Taguchi methodology of Experimental Design in order to suggest suitable process conditions for green manufacturing. The aerosol emission profile of all workpiece materials was found to be closely related to the material removal profile. A significant variation in emission and material removal rate was observed for workpiece materials which may be accorded to the variation in melting and vaporization temperatures. It was also observed that majority of aerosol constituents evolved from workpiece materials and that the constituents with low melting points were having high relative concentration in the aerosol emitted. The study introduced a parameter, the relative emission rate for comparing the emission for various process parameters and workpiece–tool material combinations. The favorable machining parameters for each material were then identified by employing signal to noise ratio analysis of the relative emission rate. 相似文献

Several analytical techniques offer the capability of simultaneously determining 5–40 elements. Of those techniques available, two are receiving extensive attention for analysis of water samples. Optical emission spectrometry utilizing plasma excitation has now evolved to a status in which 20–40 elements can be simultaneously determined on a routine basis. Instrumentation which relies on ion exchange chromatography separations is available which allows the routine determination of several cationic and/or anionic species. Structural changes of polyamideamine–epichlorohydrin (PAE) in solution during storage at 4 °C and pH 4.2–4.5 for up to 8.9 years were studied by 1H- and 13C-NMR analyses, colloidal titration and others. NMR signals due to 3-hydroxy-azetidinium groups of PAE decreased during storage, and correspondingly 2, 3-dihydroxypropyl groups were formed by the ring opening. The content of 3-hydroxy-azetidinium groups in PAE determined by 1H-NMR were similar to that determined by the colloidal titration, although the former was higher than the latter. About 50% of the 3-hydroxy-azetidinium groups present in the fresh PAE were lost during storage for 8.9 years. Furthermore, 13C-NMR analysis revealed that significant depolymerization of polyamideamine chains occurred by hydrolysis of the amide linkages during storage. Rough evaluation of number average degree of polymerization (DPn) of the amideamine repeating unit showed that the DPn decreased from 12 to 2 during storage for 8.9 years. 相似文献
