The influence of Cu and Zn on soil nematode communities was examined along a pollution gradient with increasing distance from a metallurgical factory. Total and available heavy metal contents were used to study the effects of heavy metals on nematode abundance, trophic groups and ecological indices. The results demonstrated significant correlations between the number of total nematodes, bacterivores, plant-parasites and the total and available heavy metals. Bacterivores and plant-parasites were the dominant trophic groups. Significant differences in different sampling sites were found only in the number of bacterivores(P〈0.01). The Shannon-Weaver diversity index(W), trophic diversity index(TD), evenness index(J') and dominance index(λ) were found to be sensitive to soil pH and C/N ratios. Significant correlations were found between the total nematodes (TNEM), some genera (A crobeloides, Aphelenchoides, Cephalobus, Ditylenchus, Mesorhabditis, Tetylenchus and Tylenchus) and distance from the factory. 相似文献

The local to regional processes of chemical transformations, washout and dry deposition cannot be directly resolved in global scale models, they rather need to be parameterized. A suitable way to account for the non-linearity, e.g., in chemical transformation processes, is the use of effective emission indices (EEIs). EEI translate the actual (small scale) emissions into input for global scale models, partially accounting for unresolved processes occurring shortly after the release of the emissions.The emissions from the road traffic have some specifics, because of which the concept of deriving EEI from the interaction of an instantaneous plume with the ambient air is perhaps not so convenient. A new parameterization scheme for the EEI from the road transport is suggested in the present paper, based on few simplifying assumptions and introducing the adjoin equations approach, which makes it possible to achieve unified, not depending on the specific emission pattern, procedure for calculating the EEI from road traffic. 相似文献

Indices based on network theory are often used to describe food web functioning. These indices take as input food web flows that are estimated based on merging of (scarce) data with linear inverse methods (LIMs). Due to under sampling, most food webs are highly uncertain and can only be quantified within a specific uncertainty range. The linear inverse method (LIM) can estimate food web flows using a variety of techniques, e.g. the parsimonious or minimum norm (MN) solution, which selects one food web, based on a quadratic minimization technique or the Monte Carlo solution where a finitely many random solutions are generated which are then averaged. We use the Monte Carlo approach (MCA) to estimate the values of several indices from four published food webs, the Gulf of Riga for the autumn, summer and spring seasons, and the Takapoto atoll system. We first show that network indices are much better constrained than the uncertain food webs from which they are calculated. Therefore, even in the face of food web uncertainty, they are robust estimators of food web functioning. We then use the MCA-derived network indices to generate cumulative density functions for each index. These serve to compute the probabilities of the MN indices estimates being an extreme solution as compared to the median values. Rainbow trout were exposed to sublethal waterborne Cd (5 and 10 μg L−1) and dietary Ca (60 mg g−1), individually and in combination, for 30 d to elucidate the interactive effects and evaluate the toxicological significance of mitochondrial responses to these cations in vivo. Indices of fish condition and mortality were measured and livers, centers of metabolic homeostasis, were harvested to assess mitochondrial function and cation accumulation. All indices of condition assessed (body weight, hepatosomatic index and condition factor) were reduced in all the treatment groups. Mortality occurred in the Cd-exposed groups with dietary Ca partly protecting against and enhancing it in the lower and higher Cd exposure, respectively. State 3 mitochondrial respiration was inhibited by 30%, 35% and 40% in livers of fish exposed to Ca, Cd and Cd + Ca, respectively, suggesting reduced ATP turnover and/or impaired substrate oxidation. While the phosphorylation efficiency was unaffected, state 4 and state 4+ (+ oligomycin) respirations were inhibited by all the exposures. Mitochondrial coupling was reduced and transiently restored denoting partially effective compensatory mechanisms to counteract Cd/Ca toxicity. The respiratory dysfunction was associated with accumulation of both Cd and Ca in the mitochondria. Although fish that survived acute effects of Cd and Ca exposure apparently made adjustments to energy generation such that liver mitochondria functioned more efficiently albeit at reduced capacity, reduced fitness was persistent possibly due to increased demands for maintenance and defense against toxicity. Overall, interactions between Cd and Ca on condition indices and mitochondrial responses were competitive or cooperative depending on exposure concentrations and duration. 相似文献

Abstract: The accuracy of streamflow forecasts depends on the uncertainty associated with future weather and the accuracy of the hydrologic model that is used to produce the forecasts. We present a method for streamflow forecasting where hydrologic model parameters are selected based on the climate state. Parameter sets for a hydrologic model are conditioned on an atmospheric pressure index defined using mean November through February (NDJF) 700‐hectoPascal geopotential heights over northwestern North America [Pressure Index from Geopotential heights (PIG)]. The hydrologic model is applied in the Sprague River basin (SRB), a snowmelt‐dominated basin located in the Upper Klamath basin in Oregon. In the SRB, the majority of streamflow occurs during March through May (MAM). Water years (WYs) 1980‐2004 were divided into three groups based on their respective PIG values (high, medium, and low PIG). Low (high) PIG years tend to have higher (lower) than average MAM streamflow. Four parameter sets were calibrated for the SRB, each using a different set of WYs. The initial set used WYs 1995‐2004 and the remaining three used WYs defined as high‐, medium‐, and low‐PIG years. Two sets of March, April, and May streamflow volume forecasts were made using Ensemble Streamflow Prediction (ESP). The first set of ESP simulations used the initial parameter set. Because the PIG is defined using NDJF pressure heights, forecasts starting in March can be made using the PIG parameter set that corresponds with the year being forecasted. The second set of ESP simulations used the parameter set associated with the given PIG year. Comparison of the ESP sets indicates that more accuracy and less variability in volume forecasts may be possible when the ESP is conditioned using the PIG. Biodiversity of marine ecosystems is integral to their stability and function and is threatened by anthropogenic processes. We conducted a literature review and meta-analysis of 216 studies to understand the effects of common contaminants upon diversity in various marine communities. The most common diversity measures were species richness, the Shannon-Wiener index (H′) and Pielou evenness (J). Largest effect sizes were observed for species richness, which tended to be the most sensitive index. Pollution was associated with marine communities containing fewer species or taxa than their pristine counterparts. Marine habitats did not vary in their susceptibility to contamination, rather a ∼40% reduction in richness occurred across all habitats. No class of contaminant was associated with significantly greater impacts on diversity than any other. Survey studies identified larger effects than laboratory or field experiments. Anthropogenic contamination is strongly associated with reductions in the species richness and evenness of marine habitats. 相似文献

利用CCLM(COSMO model in Climate Mode)高精度区域气候模式输出的淮河流域逐日降水数据,计算了年降水量、降水强度、大雨日数和强降水量4个降水指数,首先通过与1961~2010年流域内气象站点的降水观测数据进行对比,检验CCLM模式对淮河流域降水的模拟能力。结果表明,CCLM模式能够很好的模拟淮河流域降水的年际变化和空间分布特征,在4个降水指数中,对年降水量的模拟效果最佳。CCLM模式在SRES-A1B(中排放)情景下的降水预估数据显示,2011~2050年淮河流域降水整体将呈增加趋势,增幅在70 mm之内,降水量年际变率较大,波动范围达-40%~60%,很有可能造成未来旱涝灾害的频繁发生。空间分布上,流域南部和中部在未来40年内降水呈增加趋势,增幅不超过67%,其他区域则呈减少趋势,减幅不超过106% 相似文献

Metal (Cu, Zn, Pb, Cd, Ni, Co, and Fe) contamination in sediments from a tropical estuary (Ébrié Lagoon, Ivory Coast) was assessed using pollution indices, multivariate analyses and sediment quality guidelines (SQGs). The results demonstrate that increased input of the studied metals occurred over the past 6 years compared to that from 20 years ago, due to rapid population growth, along with the increase of industrial and agricultural activities in the vicinity of the estuary. Ébrié Lagoon was also found to be one of the most contaminated tropical coastal estuaries. Very high average total organic carbon (TOC) content was found (1.9–3.70%) with significant spatial variation as a result of the influence of anthropogenic activities. This study also found that TOC plays an important role in the distribution of Cu, Zn, Co, and Cd in the Ébrié Lagoon sediments. Moderate to high sediment contamination was observed for Cd and Cu, moderate contamination was observed for Zn and Pb, while low contamination was observed for Ni, Co, and Fe. Cluster analysis (CA) and principal component analysis (PCA) investigation revealed that Cu, Zn, Cd, and Co result mainly from anthropogenic sources while Pb, Ni, and Fe may be of natural origin. The pollution-loading index (PLI) indicated that all of the sites close to wastewater discharges were highly polluted. The sediments are likely to be an occasional threat to aquatic organisms due to Cu, Zn, Pb, Cd, and Ni contents, based on the SQGs approach. 相似文献

植物的不同生长发育阶段是影响根系微生物功能多样性的原因之一。植物的生长改变了微生物的群落结构。在低有机负荷或高有机负荷下,植物幼苗与成苗根系的微生物整体活性均差异明显,一般成苗期具有较高AWCD值。有植物湿地中微生物Simpson和Mcintosh多样性指数在植物成苗期均明显高于幼苗期(P0.05),但Shannon指数变化不明显(P0.05)。无植物湿地中微生物Simpson和Mcintosh指数受季节影响差异显著(P0.05)。主成分和聚类分析结果表明,不同生长发育阶段其微生物种类存在差异,而且不同进水条件下有植物湿地和无植物湿地各自有相似的微生物群体结构。 相似文献
