ABSTRACT: A laboratory boat designed to investigate toxic effects on site and its use as a bioassay tool in the study of a refinery effluent discharged into the Schuylkill River, a tributary of the Delaware River, is described. Three-hundred thirty-six-hour continuous-flow bioassay s exposing the bluegill sunfish, the channel catfish, the tadpole snail, the grass shrimp, and the sheephead minnow to concentrations of refinery effluent in Schuylkill, Delaware River, and Delaware Bay water, with and without the addition of sediment were performed. Results indicated that the toxicity (lethality) of fresh samples tested aboard the boat (refinery effluent, dilution water, sediment) were considerably higher (i.e., refinery effluent at full strength was 2.2X as lethal to the bluegill, 1.4X as lethal to the channel catfish, 1.5X as lethal to the sheep-head minnow and 100X as lethal to the grass shrimp) than the same test material collected from the refinery outfall and brought to a central laboratory for testing. Chemical analysis and bioassay data is presented showing the effects of aging and irradiation upon the refinery effluent.  相似文献

采用微波辐照技术修复氯丹污染土壤,以氯丹的挥发率和分解率为主要评价指标,研究了微波辐照条件对土壤修复效果的影响。实验结果表明:氯丹的挥发率随微波辐照功率的增大而增大,而氯丹的分解率则无明显变化;当活性炭与土壤质量比为9∶120时,氯丹的去除效果最好,去除率达89%;氯丹的挥发性能在前20min内随微波辐照时间的延长而增强,而氯丹的分解性能则刚好相反;当土壤含水率为15%时,氯丹的挥发率最高,为2.5%,而氯丹分解率最小,为16.8%;在酸性偏中性范围内氯丹的去除效果较差,随土壤p H的不断增大,氯丹的挥发率明显升高,且氯丹的分解率也增大。  相似文献

梁柱节点在钢框架结构中处于竖向荷载和水平荷载交汇关键部位,直接决定结构的受力性能和抗震能力。依托北京市档案馆新馆工程,根据工程需要和设计规范要求,对3个采用传统连接形式的钢框架梁柱节点,采取循坏加载的拟静力试验方法进行抗震性能研究,探讨了连接构造形式、冷作硬化效应和加载方案等对节点承载力、延性和破坏模式的影响。试验结果表明,传统连接形式节点具有承载力高、变形小、设计和施工简便的优点,但易发生脆性破坏;冷作硬化可以提高试件的承载力和变形能力,但不改变最终失效模式;加载方案对失效模式没有影响。  相似文献

Bormate (BrO3^-) is a carcinogenic chemical produced in ozonation or chlorination of bromide-containing water. Although its formation in seawater with or without sunlight has been previously investigated, the formation of bromate in dilute solutions, particularly raw water for water treatment plant, is unknown. In this article, the results of bench scale tests to measure the formation rates of bromate formation in dilute solutions, including de-ionized water and raw water from Yangtze River, were presented in dark chlorination and ultraviolet (UV)/chlorination processes. And the effects of initial pH, initial concentration of NaOCl, and UV light intensity on bromate formation in UV/chlorination of the diluted solutions were investigated. Detectable bromate was formed in dark chlorination of the two water samples with a relatively slow production rate. Under routine disinfecting conditions, the amount of formed bromate is not likely to exceed the national standards (10 μg/L). UV irradiation enhanced the decay of free chlorine, and, simultaneously, 6.6%-32% of Br^- was oxidized to BrO3^-. And the formation of bromate exhibited three stages: rapid stage, slow stage and plateau. Under the experimental conditions (pH = 4.41-11.07, CCl2= 1.23-4.50 mg/L), low pH and high chlorine concentration favored the generation of bromate. High light intensity promoted the production rate of bromate, but decreased its total generation amount due to acceleration of chlorine decomposition.  相似文献

The photochemical conversion of bezafibrate, gemfibrozil, fenofibrate and fenofibric acid has been examined in aqueous media. Irradiation with a solar simulator in distilled water caused about 10% degradation for the first three drugs after 200 hr, while fenofibric acid was completely degraded after 100 hr. Experiments have also been performed in the presence of nitrates or humic acids, considered as environmental photosensitizers, and only for gemfibrozil a reduction of degradation has been observed. Photoproducts have been characterized and the mechanistic pathways discussed on the basis of experimental and literature data.  相似文献

The use of irradiation to improve the safety, protect the nutritional benefits, and preserve the quality of fresh and processed foods is a well established and proven technology. Over the past 35 years, the United States Government has invested in the science to confirm safety and in the technology to show application. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Food and Drug Administration have approved sources of ionizing radiation for the treatment of foods, and their application to most meats, fruits, vegetables, and spices. Despite the value of this technology to the food industry and to the health and welfare of the public, only minimal application of this technology occurs. This underscores the importance of increasing the public's understanding of radiation risks relative to other hazards. Accordingly, in 1995, the Committee on Interagency Radiation Research and Policy Coordination of the Executive Office of the President made recommendations for the creation of a centralized National Radiation Information Center that would work closely with Federal departments and agencies in responding to public queries about radiation issues and Federal programs. This article updates a commentary published in 1996 (Young 1996). In the past six years, some progress has been made, including the establishment of a government operated Food Irradiation Information Center, and the completion of final rule making by USDA, thus permitting the safe treatment of meats and poultry. Despite these actions, little progress has been made on the public acceptance of this technology. The need for an informed public and for a better understanding of risks, i.e., risk communication, is noted.  相似文献

采用微波辐射技术、得到以Zn^2+为模板的交联壳聚糖。考察了微波法制备工艺、产物的吸附量变化以及吸附动力学。结果表明,与传统制备法相比,微波模板法合成交联壳聚糖工艺简单。产物的吸附量大。明显缩短了反应时间,而且交联物具有一定记忆性及选择性。  相似文献

黑土是一种腐殖质层厚,质地松散,肥力很高,孔隙比较大而透水性差,粘粒含量高,适于耕作的淋溶土。但是随着人类社会的发展,在缺乏保护和可持续利用意识、急功近利思想影响下,黑土遭到过度垦殖和掠夺式经营,人类对其活动范围远远超过了其再生能力,导致有机质含量减少,肥力下降,孔隙比减小,保水持水能力降低, 土壤板结,黑土严重退化。在国家振兴东北老工业基地和防止黑土退化及加强黑土保护之际,通过对黑土分布状况和黑土退化研究现状的分析,总结出黑土退化方式,揭示了其退化的主要原因,提出了防止黑土地退化和保护黑土地的措施,在现有研究的基础上提出黑土退化研究的新方向,希望能为黑土资源可持续利用和进一步研究起到抛砖引玉的作用。  相似文献

Degradation of nitrobenzene in wastewater by γ-ray irradiation   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The degradation of nitrobenzene(NB) by γ-ray irradiation was studied. The influences of dose rate and initial NB concentration were investigated in details. At a dose rate of 55 Gy/min, the degradation kinetics was pseudo-first-order at NB concentrations from 0.2 mmol/L to 4.0 mmol/L. At an initial NB concentration of 0.8 mmol/L, the degradation of NB at various dose rates also followed pseudo-first-order kinetics. Dissolved oxygen was found to have a positive effect on NB degradation. The degradation products were identified as nitrophenol,nitrosobenzene, and hydroquinone, and so on. Based on the product analysis, possible degradation pathways of nitrobenzene were proposed.  相似文献
