Water with high nitrate concentration (NO3 ) is unfit for human consumption, especially when its concentration exceeded the threshold limit (50 mg/l) recommended by the health authorities such as the World Health Organization (WHO). In Jordan, there is a great concern for determination and monitoring organic and inorganic pollutants that may reach groundwater. Nitrate is highly mobile and present in domestic, agricultural and industrial waste in Jordan, and thus this study focused initially on nitrate as both a contaminant of concern and as an indicator of potential groundwater contamination. The present study determined the extent of nitrate contamination in groundwater in the study area and examined the likely sources of NO3 . A total of 248 groundwater samples were collected from 16 wells in different sites of Al-Hashimiya area, Zerqa Governorate, Jordan, and investigated for NO3 concentrations. Moreover, measurements of temperature, electrical conductivity and pH were carried out in the field. Analysis was carried out according to the methods described by the American Public Health Association (APHA). Results showed that there was a dramatic increasing in NO3 concentrations from the year 2001 to 2006 for some selected wells in the present study. NO3 concentration in 2006 was ranged from 10 to 330 mg/l with an average of 77 mg/l. Overall, groundwater had elevated nitrate concentration with 92% of the samples containing more than 20 mg/l NO3 , indicating the influence of human activities. This study has shown that there is a strong correlation between the nitrate concentration and the wastewater effluents as a source of pollution.  相似文献

研究了上海市中心城区地表灰尘中多环芳烃(PAHs)的季节变化与功能区差异,并探讨了这种变化特征的原因.结果表明,上海市中心城区地表灰尘中PAHs累积水平具有显著的季节变化,PAHs总量和组分均表现出冬季含量高于夏季的特征.冬季样品中PAHs含量为9 176~32?573 ng·g-1,平均值为20 648 ng·g-1;而夏季PAHs含量为6?875~27?766 ng·g-1,平均值仅为14?098 ng·g-1.PAHs组分也表现出相似特征,冬季含量为50(二氢苊)~3 162 ng·g-1 (茚并[1,2,3-c,d ]芘),夏季含量为3(苊)~1 485 ng·g-1 (茚并[1,2,3-c,d ]芘).各个功能区地表灰尘PAHs含量的差异明显.冬季最高值出现在工业区(31 163 ng·g-1)、商业区(24 932 ng·g-1)和交通要道(18 815 ng·g-1),最低值出现在公园(7 885 ng·g-1)和绿地(8 036 ng·g-1);夏季最低值出现在公园(7 942 ng·g-1),最高值出现在交通要道(14 528 ng·g-1)、工业区(14 247 ng·g-1)和商业区(11 523 ng·g-1).所有功能区样品中PAHs组分含量呈现出按环数或分子量的增加而逐渐升高的趋势.大城市地表灰尘中PAHs的季节变化与功能区差异与其来源密切相关,也受到各组分理化性质的影响.  相似文献

硝基苯能够被零价铁还原成为苯胺. 利用气相色谱分析方法,研究了泥浆体系中零价铁表面积对硝基苯污染底质降解行为的影响. 结果表明,在沉积物中初始w(硝基苯)为8.87 μg/g,按照3.27 g/L最佳比例投加还原铁粉,经2 h反应约有97%的硝基苯被降解;其还原机理为表面接触反应,铁粉总表面积是影响硝基苯降解的主要参数;沉积物中硝基苯降解速率常数(K)和残留量(y)与单位体积泥浆中零价铁总表面积(ρa)之间表现为线性和负指数相关性,其关系式分别为:K0.006 5+5.165 87×10-4ρa和y8.57exp(-ρa/7.66)+0.25;零价铁还原硝基苯的降解过程,其降解动力学符合准一级方程,并且通过SEM扫描电镜发现零价铁在反应过程中表面被严重腐蚀,颗粒组成发生明显改变.   相似文献

浑河沿岸污灌区地下水中PAHs分布特征研究   总被引:11,自引:6,他引:5  
在浑河沿岸沈抚、浑蒲污灌区采集23个地下水样,采用固相萃取-气相色谱/氢火焰检测器(SPE-GC/FID)方法,对美国环境保护局(USEPA)优先控制的16种多环芳烃(PAHs)进行定量分析.结果表明,该区域地下水受到PAHs严重污染,苯并[a]蒽(BaA)、苯并[k]荧蒽(BkF)检出率分别为100%和82.6%.土壤剖面研究结果表明,BaA和BkF在土壤中的垂直分布比较均匀,显示其在土壤中具有很强的迁移能力.研究发现其原因在于BaA和BkF的沉积物-水分配系数(Koc)较大,其对数值lg Koc分别为5.30和5.74,在土壤-地下水粗分散系统中,容易吸附于大颗粒胶体有机质上,形成悬浮液、乳浊液或者泡沫等,并在布朗运动力推动之下发生迁移.   相似文献

Desertification is one of the most serious eco-environmental problems around Qinghai Lake. Based on GIS and RS, GIS analysis was used to obtain the information of spatial-temporal change and different pattern of desertification in each county around Qinghai Lake in four phases of 1976, 1987, 1995 and 2006. Using the function of intersect and overlay supported by ARCGIS, with analyzing attributes of vector RS images, we obtained transition data and established transfer matrix of land-use types in recent 30 years, besides, protracted land-use transition maps of all desertification classes. In further, we analyzed transition quantity and direction of desertification in each county, moreover, reconstructed the process of spatial-temporal evolution of desertification. The results are showed below: (1) it′s the transition between desertified land and others but not in the desertified that played the main role in Gangcha and Gonghe County, while the transfer between desertified lands were greater than that with other land-use types in Haiyan County. (2) Extremely severe desertified land mainly distributes in Ketu and Sand Islands that belongs to Haiyan County, and moderate desertified land in riversides of Gangcha County, also, the light desertification expanded too rapidly to become the most desertified land-use type in the surrounding of Qinghai Lake since 1976. (3) By using relative change rate of desertified land, the regional variability rank from top to toe was Gangcha, Haiyan and Gonghe.  相似文献

The notion of creating marine protected areas (MPAs) in the high seas has been hailed as “an idea whose time has come”, and advocates are calling for them to be part of a global representative system to be established by 2012. It is argued in this paper that embedding the high seas MPA concept in the macro-goal of a global representative system subsumes more pragmatic and politically acceptable “micro-actions”. Development of politically contentious policy proposals such as high seas MPAs may have a better chance of success if they proceed by increments and are negotiated outside the limelight of a full scale, temporally defined global project. The following paper critically analyses the salience of international environmental agreements in the context of high seas MPAs and suggests a prototype MPA established by means of a negotiated agreement between a small number of countries which share political will and technological capacity to make a difference. Modelled on the recently implemented Titanic Accord, the prototypical high seas MPA would allow parties to develop a collaborative, rules-based regime which could be used to manage the actions of citizens involved in activities that may have a negative impact on the specified area.  相似文献
