ABSTRACT: Habitat diversity and invertebrate drift were studied in a group of natural and channelized tributaries of the upper Des Moines River during 1974 and 1975. Channelized streams in this region had lower sinuosity index values than natural channel segments. There were significant (P=O.05) positive correlations between channel sinuosity and the variability of water depth and current velocity. Invertebrate drift density, expressed as biomass and total numbers, also was correlated with channel sinuosity. Channelization has decreased habitat variability and invertebrate drift density in streams of the upper Des Moines River Basin and probably has reduced the quantity of water stored in streams during periods of low flow. 相似文献

Water quality and stream habitat in agricultural watersheds are under greater scrutiny as hydrologic pathways are altered to increase crop production. Ditches have been traditionally constructed to remove water from agricultural lands. Little attention has been placed on alternative ditch designs that are more stable and provide greater habitat diversity for wildlife and aquatic species. In 2009, 1.89 km of a conventional drainage ditch in Mower County, Minnesota, was converted to a two‐stage ditch (TSD) with small, adjacent floodplains to mimic a natural system. Cross section surveys, conducted pre‐ and post‐construction, generally indicate a stable channel with minor adjustments over time. Vegetation surveys showed differences in species composition and biomass between the slopes and the benches, with changes ongoing. Longitudinal surveys demonstrated a 12‐fold increase in depth variability. Fish habitat quality improved with well‐sorted gravel riffles and deeper pool habitat. The biological response to improved habitat quality was investigated using a Fish Index of Biological Integrity (FIBI). Our results show higher FIBI scores post‐construction with scores more similar to natural streams. In summary, the TSD demonstrated improvements in riparian and instream habitat quality and fish communities, which showed greater fish species richness, higher percentages of gravel spawning fish, and better FIBI scores. 前混合磨料射流具有切割各种材料无火花、所需设备压力低以及操作简单等优点,具有广泛应用井下安全切割的功能.笔者根据建立的磨料粒子运动方程,推导出具有普遍意义的匀速流场内粒子路程函数以及用数值分析法求解出粒子在喷嘴内的速度;通过理论分析和具体的数值计算,磨料最主要的加速过程是在收缩段内完成,磨料粒子从喷嘴喷出时已能高达水流速度的95%以上,磨料粒子在离开喷嘴在射流的核心段内仍将继续得到加速;同时发现,在条件允许的情况下,喷嘴的收缩段应适当长些,喷嘴圆柱段长度为喷嘴出口直径的2.5~3.0倍最合适. 相似文献

A positive correlation has been established between increased levels of airborne particulate pollution and adverse health effects, the toxicological mechanisms of which are poorly understood. For toxicologists to unambiguously determine thesemechanisms, truly representative samples of ambient PM10 are required. This presents problems, as PM10 collecting equipment commonly employed, such as the Tapered Element Oscillating Microbalance (TEOM®), heat the inflow toexclude moisture or use fibrous filters, resulting in a PM10sample that may have undergone significant chemical change on thefilter surface or is contaminated by filter fibres. Other systems(i.e. Negretti and Partisol) can successfully collect PM10 without chemical alteration or filter contamination. Comparativecollections from Port Talbot, S. Wales suggest that TEOMs and Negretti/Partisol systems collect different PM10's; the principle difference arising from the TEOM's heating chamber, which precipitates water-soluble ions and volatilises some organic components. This results in both the mass and compositionof the PM10's being altered. Particle size distributionsfor Negretti and Partisol collections highlighted differences mainly attributed to different flow rates. The results of thiswork demonstrate that simple correlations between PM10 massand adverse health effects are problematic. 管涌侵蚀一直是水力学研究的重点,其是指在渗透水流作用下土体内部细颗粒发生迁移并形成渗漏通道的一种渗漏现象,且在围压条件下土体内部侵蚀过程会受到显著的影响。利用自主研发的应力动态联动式渗透变形试验装置对不同级配的散粒土在恒定围压条件下的侵蚀过程进行研究。设置三组不同的间断级配试样,对渗流过程中的渗流量、细颗粒流失量和渗透变形量进行测量。结果表明:试验前期渗流速度v和水力梯度i呈线性正相关, 但围压作用使得i?v曲线后期明显变缓不再符合达西定律;土体中间级配缺的越多,颗粒起动的临界水力梯度越小; 且土体的不均匀系数对渗透系数的影响存在某一上限值。渗流过程中细颗粒的流失存在因堵塞而引起的自滤自稳定现象,该现象在骨架颗粒级配较为均匀时更易出现。土体在恒定围压条件下细颗粒流失导致体积收缩,而由于土体内部颗粒间的作用力突变,土体渗透变形呈现阶梯状变化,且在土体颗粒级配间断跨度大、内部细颗粒粒径小且单一的情况下阶梯状变化较为明显。 相似文献

ABSTRACT: Improved sampling techniques are needed to increase the accuracy of pebble‐count particle‐size distributions used for stream studies in gravel‐bed streams. However, pebble counts are prone to operator errors introduced through subjective particle selection, serial correlation, and inaccurate particle‐size measurements. Errors in particle‐size measurements can be minimized by using a gravel template. Operator influence on particle selection can be minimized by using a sampling frame, 60 by 60 cm, in which sampling points are identified by the cross points of thin elastic bands. Serial correlation can be minimized by adjusting the spacing between the cross points and setting it equal to the dominant large particle size (=D95). In a field test in a cobble‐bed stream, the sampling frame developed in this study produced slightly coarser size distributions, particularly in the cobble range, than the traditional heel‐to‐toe walk that selects particles with a blind touch at the tip of the boot. The sampling frame produced more similar sampling results between two operators than heel‐to‐toe walks. The difference between the two sampling methods is attributed to an unbiased selection of fine and coarse particles when using the sampling frame. 相似文献
