Introduction
Highway crash occurrence is a leading cause of unnatural deaths, and highway agencies continually seek to identify engineering measures to reduce crashes and to assess the efficacy of such measures. Most past studies on the effectiveness of roadway improvements in terms of crash reduction considered all rural two-lane sections as a single category of roads. However, it may be hypothesized that the differences in the mobility and accessibility characteristics that are reflected in (and due to) the different design standards between different functional subclasses in the rural two-lane highway system can lead to differences in efficacies of safety improvements at these subclasses. This paper investigates the efficacy of roadway improvements, in terms of crash reduction, at the various subclasses of rural two-lane highways.Methods
An empirical analysis of safety performance at each of the three subclasses of rural two-lane highways was carried out using the negative binomial modeling technique. For each subclass, crash prediction models were developed separately for the three levels of crash severity: property-damage only, injury, and fatal/injury. The crash factors that were considered include lane width, shoulder width, pavement surface friction, pavement condition, and horizontal and vertical alignments. After having developed the safety performance functions, the effectiveness (in terms of the extent of crash reduction, for different levels of crash severity) of highway safety enhancements at each highway subclass were determined using the theoretical concepts established in past literature. These enhancements include widening lanes, widening shoulders, enhancing pavement surface friction, and improving the vertical or horizontal alignment.Results and Conclusion
The study found that there is empirical evidence to justify the decomposition of the family of rural two-lane roads into its constituent subclasses for purposes of analyzing the effectiveness of safety enhancement projects and thus to avoid underestimation or overestimation of benefits of safety improvements at this class of highways. 相似文献172.

The functional safety requirement is widely applied in the process plant industry in accordance with the international standards, such as IEC and ISA. The requirement is defined as safety integrity level (SIL) based on the risk reduction concept for protection layers, from original process risk to tolerable risk level. Although the standards specify both, the Prevention System and the Emergency System, as level of protection layers, the standards specify in detail only the use of the Prevention System (i.e., Safety Instrumented System (SIS)). The safety integrity level is not commonly allocated to the Emergency System (e.g., Fire and Gas System, Emergency Shutdown System and Emergency Depressuring System). This is because the required risk reduction can be normally achieved by only the Prevention System (i.e., SIS and Pressure Safety Valve (PSV)). Further, the risk reduction level for the Emergency System is very difficult to be quantified by the actual SIL application (i.e., evaluated based on the single accident scenario, such as an accident from process control deviation), since the escalation scenarios after Loss of Containment (LOC) greatly vary depending on the plant design and equipment. Consequently, there are no clear criteria for evaluating the Emergency System design. This paper aims to provide the functional safety requirement (i.e., required risk reduction level based on IEC 61508 and 61511) as design criteria for the Emergency System.In order to provide clear criteria for the Emergency System evaluation, a risk reduction concept integrated with public’s perception of acceptable risk criteria is proposed and is applied to identify the required safety integrity level for the Emergency System design. Further, to verify the safety integrity levels for the Emergency Systems, the probabilistic model of the Emergency Systems was established considering each Emergency System (e.g., Fire and Gas System, Emergency Shutdown System and Emergency Depressuring System) relation as the Overall Emergency System. This is because the Overall Emergency System can achieve its goal by the combined action of each individual system, including inherent safe design, such as separation distance.The proposed approach applicability was verified by conducting a case study using actual onshore Liquefied Natural Gas Plant data. A multiple pregnancy of high rank may occur in a couple at risk for a Mendelian disorder. Prenatal diagnosis is hampered by the difficulty of (1) obtaining chorionic villi from each zygote arid (2) unequivocally relating each sample to the corresponding embryo. The calculation of the genetic risk according to the number of zygotes led us to propose a diagnostic strategy based on embryo reduction, a technique initially designed to improve the perinatal outcome of multiple pregnancies with normal embryos. We report a case in which this approach allowed rational use of first-trimester chorionic villus sampling in a quintuplet pregnancy at risk for non-ketotic hyperglycinaemia, resulting in the selective birth of unaffected twins. 相似文献

采用热分解法制备了SnO2载体,并用浸渍法制备了Pd/SnO2催化剂.同时,采用X射线衍射仪(XRD)、透射电镜(TEM)、扫描电镜(SEM)及BET比表面积仪等对所制载体和催化剂材料进行了分析表征.结果表明,热分解法和浸渍法都能够获得纳米材料,SnO2及Pd/SnO2的粒径均在9~10nm左右,比表面积分别达到144.99m·2g-1和147.36m·2g-1.在以甲酸为还原剂的Pd/SnO2催化还原硝酸盐体系中,在Pd与SnO2负载比为2%~7%,反应温度为20~50℃和甲酸投加量4.0~24.0mmol·L-1的条件下,催化活性为0.70~9.48mg·min-·1g-1,且催化活性随着负载比、温度和甲酸投加量的增大而增大,随着pH的升高先升后降,最佳pH为3.反应温度升高及pH降低都能够提高Pd/SnO2的选择性.甲酸-Pd/SnO2催化还原硝酸盐体系中还原反应的调控策略为:反应温度宜控制在40~50℃内,这样可同时获得较高的催化活性和选择性,温度过高对催化活性和选择性影响很小,温度过低则会同时降低催化活性和选择性;控制pH为3时,可以获得最大的催化活性及较好的选择性,pH升高会降低Pd/SnO2的催化活性和选择性,pH降低会导致催化活性迅速降低,但对选择性影响不大;甲酸与硝酸盐的物质的量比宜大于4:1,此时可以有效地抑制pH的上升,同时获得较高的催化活性和选择性,甲酸与硝酸盐的物质的量比小于4:1时,会同时降低Pd/SnO2的催化活性和选择性. 相似文献

利用小球烧结和氢气还原工艺制备了粒径1mm~5mm的多孔性球形海绵铁,对球形海绵铁去除水体中硝酸盐的效率及去除动力学进行了研究。结果表明:溶液初始pH值对硝酸盐去除效率的影响显著,初始pH值小于3时,硝酸盐的去除率随溶液初始pH的增加而逐渐降低;初始pH值大于3时,硝酸盐的去除率又随之升高。硝酸盐浓度低于10mgN/L时,硝酸盐去除率随着硝酸盐初始浓度的增加而增加,硝酸盐的残余量保持在0.4mgN/L左右;硝酸盐浓度高于20mgN/L时,硝酸盐的去除率随初始硝酸盐浓度的增加而略有降低。球形海绵铁去除硝酸盐为一级动力学反应,反应级数为0.970~1.378,表观反应速率常数为0.314h-1~0.536h-1。海绵铁还原硝酸盐的主要产物为氨氮,随着还原反应的进行,溶液pH值快速增加,氨氮以分子态氨的形式从水中逸出。进行归纳总结和对比,并以多环芳烃的提取为例列举了各方法的应用步骤,从而为其他环境样品其他有机物分析预处理提供参考。 相似文献

为推广减污降碳协同控制技术,以炼铁工序为研究对象,从协同度、成本收益和环境影响3个维度评价炼铁工序源头、过程节能技术、末端治理技术和低碳技术的协同控制效益。从污染物和碳排放协同度分析来看,源头、过程节能技术能有效推动炼铁工序污染物和碳排放的协同减排,而末端控制技术对污染物和温室气体的减排不具有协同性。绿氢冶炼技术和熔剂性球团制备技术污碳减排协同度较高,此外高炉喷吹焦炉煤气技术、高炉煤气回收技术和高炉热风炉双预热能协同减少VOCs和碳排放。在当前我国碳交易价格条件下,从成本收益分析来看节能技术和污染物末端治理技术具有可推广性。随着碳交易价格的上涨,绿氢冶炼和碳捕集(CCS)技术减排成本呈下降趋势。绿氢冶炼技术、污染物末端治理技术最能有效地减少环境影响,其他节能技术也能相应减少环境影响,而现有条件下CCS技术的实施会增加对环境的影响。综合污染物和温室气体协同减排的协同度、经济效益和环境效益评估,炼铁工序中源头防治和节能技术可作为我国现阶段减污降碳协同增效技术进行推广,随着未来碳交易价格的增长和能源的转型,绿氢冶炼技术和CCS技术具有较大应用前景。
