Peat bog harvesting is an important industry in many countries, including Canada. To harvest peat, bogs are drained and drainage
water is evacuated towards neighboring rivers, estuaries or coastal waters. High suspended sediment concentrations (SSC) were
found in the drainage water at one particular site during the 2001–2002 spring seasons in New Brunswick (Canada). The main
objective of this study was to verify this observation at other sites, compare SSC levels leaving harvested peat bogs with
those leaving an unharvested bog, and to determine if high SSC events happen only in Spring or all year round. Suspended sediment
concentrations were monitored downstream of three harvested peat bogs and an unharvested reference bog located in New Brunswick
during the ice free seasons of 2003–2004. On average, SSC at the harvested sites exceeded 25 mg/l, which is the recommended
daily maximum concentration, 72% of the time, while the same concentration was exceeded 30% of the time at the unharvested
sites. SSC were found to be significantly higher at harvested sites than at the reference sites for all seasons. The highest
SSC medians were recorded in the Fall but SSC was elevated in all seasons. High SSC levels in receiving waters may be caused
by field ditching activities and insufficient sediment controls. Findings suggest the NB Peat Harvesting 25 mg/l SSC guideline

以C/N较低的污水为处理对象,重点研究和分析了MUCT工艺缺氧区的反硝化除磷特性.结果表明,①缺氧区1因为COD浓度相对较高,回流污泥中的硝酸盐氮优先被传统反硝化菌利用,不能作为DPB的电子受体,所以主要发生释磷反应;②缺氧区2内DPB利用厌氧段贮存大量PHB为碳源,以硝酸盐氮为电子受体进行吸磷,且吸磷量逐日提高,从最初的0 .93 mg/L增加至18 mg/L,缺氧吸磷率最终稳定在40%左右;③缺氧区3内,由于硝酸盐氮和COD浓度过低,进行无效释磷反应过程,释磷量在0 .27~3 mg/L之间;④系统对COD、TN、TP的去除率较高,出水TN和TP浓度分别在10 mg/L和0 .9 mg/L以下. 相似文献

Sediment cores were collected from two sites (A2 and ZQ) in the Qingdao sea area of the Yellow Sea. Radionuclides 40K, 137Cs, 210Pb, 226Ra, 228Ra, 228Th, 234Th, and 238U in the cores were measured using HPGe γ spectrometry. The sedimentation rate of the A2 Core using 210Pbex and 137Cs was 0.665 cm yr−1, therefore this 32 cm long core represents a 48 year timespan leading to the sampling date in 2001. The mixing layer was
restricted to the upper 5 cm as determined from the profile of 234Th. The uniformity of the activity distributions of 40K and 238U throughout the A2 Core and the activity distributions of 226Ra, 228Ra and 228Th below the mixing layer suggested that no significant oceanographic event or change in sediment material source had occurred
during this timespan. The 210 Pb was in excess relative to 226Ra, but 226Ra was deficient with respect to 238U in the entire A2 Core, while excess 234Th and 228Th were apparent only in the surface 5 cm. Total organic matter (TOM) in Core A2 decreases with depth. The second core, taken
to a depth of 14 cm, was from Site ZQ, which is located near Zhanqiao, Qingdao. The variations of the nuclide activity ratios
in this core were similar to those in the A2 Core, i.e., the excess 210 Pb and 226Ra deficiency were consistent throughout the core but excess 228Th was only in the surface to a depth of 2 cm. The 40K activity in the ZQ Core fluctuated and showed no real trend with depth. The activities of 137Cs, 210Pb, 226Ra and 238U in the entire length of Core ZQ, and 228Ra and 228Th from 2 cm to the bottom, were comparable within the uncertainty of measured activity. 相似文献

为了解在不同类型二次过街路口行人违反交通法规闯红灯的违法率,找出二次过街路口不同参数对行人违法率的影响,从而找出降低路口行人违法率的对策,保障路口行人交通安全和人车流畅通,本文选取上海市5种类型的二次过街路口调查行人在路口的违法率.通过分析调查数据,行人在路口一次穿越车道数为2~7,两次穿越车道总数为6~12,违法率随车道数的增加而降低.在红灯等待时间90 s之内,行人违法率随等待时间的升高呈一定的下降趋势.红灯等待时间在90~150 s之间,行人违法率没有确定的规律.安全岛、引导护栏、中继信号灯等设施具有明显降低行人违法率的作用.根据二次过街路口设置安全岛、引导护栏、中继信号灯、车道数以及是否从路边穿越5个影响因素的安全评价系数之和建立综合安全评价系数,得到行人在二次过街路口违法率随综合安全评价系数的增大而降低.研究表明,完善和优化二次过街路口的设施参数可以降低路口行人违法率. 相似文献

Control of sedimentation in large reservoirs requires soil conservation at the catchment scale. In large, heterogeneous catchments,
soil conservation planning needs to be based on sound information, and set within the framework of a sediment budget to ensure
that all of the potentially significant sources and sinks are considered.
The major sources of sediment reaching the reservoir, Lake Argyle, in tropical northwestern Australia, have been determined
by combining measured sediment fluxes in rivers with spatial tracer-based estimates of proportional contributions from tributaries
of the main stream entering the lake, the Ord River. The spatial tracers used are mineral particle magnetics, the strontium
isotopic ratio, and the neodymium isotopic ratio. Fallout of 137Cs has been used to estimate the proportion of the sediment in Lake Argyle eroded from surface soils by sheet and rill erosion,
and, by difference, the proportion eroded from subsurface soils by gully and channel erosion. About 96% of the sediment in
the reservoir has come from less than 10% of the catchment, in the area of highly erodible soils formed on Cambrian-age sedimentary
rocks. About 80% of the sediment in the reservoir has come from gully and channel erosion. A major catchment revegetation
program, designed to slow sedimentation in the reservoir, appears to have had little effect because it did not target gullies,
the major source of sediment. Had knowledge of the sediment budget been available before the revegetation program was designed,
