DOI: 10.1111/j.1752‐1688.2010.00513.x Abstract: Newnans, Lochloosa, and Orange Lakes are closely hydrologically connected karst lakes located in north‐central Florida, United States. The complex karst hydrology in this region poses a great challenge to the hydrological modeling that is essential to the development of Total Maximum Daily Loads for these lakes. We used a Hydrological Simulation Program – Fortran model coupled with the parallel Parameter ESTimation model calibration and uncertainty analysis software to estimate effectively the hydrological interactions between the lakes and the underlying upper Floridan aquifer and the water budgets for these three lakes. The net results of the lake‐groundwater interactions in Newnans and Orange Lakes are that both lakes recharge the underlying upper Floridan aquifer, with the recharge rate of the latter one magnitude greater than that of the former. However, for Lochloosa Lake, the net lake‐groundwater interaction is that the lake gains water from groundwater in a significant amount, approximately 40% of its total terrestrial water input. The annual average vertical leakages estimated for Newnans, Lochloosa, and Orange Lakes are 6.0 × 106, ?8.9 × 106, and 44.4 × 106 m3, respectively. The average vertical hydraulic conductance (Kv/b) of the units between a lake bottom and the underlying upper Floridan aquifer in this region are also estimated to be from 1.26 × 10?4 to 1.01 × 10?3 day?1. 相似文献

ABSTRACT: A geographic information system (GIS) was used to determine the relation between the stream-water quality and underlying geology in Roberts Creek watershed, Clayton County, Iowa, for base-flow conditions during the spring and summer of 1988–90. Geologic, stream, basin and subbasin boundaries, and water-quality sampling-site coverages were created by digitizing available maps. A contour coverage was created from digital line-graph data. The areal extent of geologic units subcropping in each subbasin was quantified with GIS, and the results then were output and joined with the discharge and water-quality data for statistical analyses. Illustrations showing the geology of the study area and the results of the study were prepared using GIS. By using GIS and a statistical software package, a weak but statistically significant relation was found between the water temperature, pH, and nitrogen concentrations in Roberts Creek and the underlying geology during base-flow conditions. 相似文献

ABSTRACT: Water quality indicators of two agriculturally impacted karst areas in southeastern West Virginia were studied to determine the water quality effects of grazing agriculture and water quality trends following initiation of water quality improvement programs. Both areas are tributaries of the Greenbrier River and received funding for best management practices under the President's Initiative for Water Quality and then under the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP). After 11 years of study there was little evidence to suggest that water quality improved in one area. Three and a half years of study in the other area showed little evidence of consistent water quality improvement under EQIP. Lack of consistent water quality improvement at the catchment scale does not imply that the voluntary programs were failures. Increased livestock numbers as a result of successful changes in forage management practices may have overridden water quality improvements achieved through best management practices. Practices that target well defined contributing areas significantly impacting aquifer water quality might be one way to improve water quality at catchment scales in karst basins. For example, a significant decrease in fecal coliform concentrations was observed in subterranean drainage from one targeted sinkhole after dairy cattle were permanently excluded from the sinkhole. 相似文献

岩溶地下水是西南岩溶地区重要的生活和生产用水来源,由于其赋存地质环境复杂,受到污染后极难治理。以某含油废水溢流区为研究对象,通过调查污染区域的地质结构、溶洞通道及断层情况,评估污染物的来源、分布范围及主要迁移通道,构建基于地下水自净能力的地下水污染风险评价模型。结果表明:研究区石油烃 (C10~C40) 、氰化物和甲苯污染严重,三者检出率分别为98.7%,75.3%和59.7%,包气带内仍存在大量的石油类污染物,其质量为14.07 t;岩溶断层区地下水系统存在2条岩溶通道,且石油类污染物主要通过第一条通道迁移;地下水中石油类污染物的自然衰减过程符合指数型衰减特征;人工冲洗情景下,污染物和示踪剂浓度下降速度加快,地下水自净能力显著提高;岩溶断层区地下水污染风险指数与泉流量之间呈现负相关关系。该研究成果可为岩溶断层区含油废水溢流地下水污染的自然衰减式治理和风险防控提供参考。 相似文献

为研究不同土地利用类型下碳酸盐岩溶蚀对土壤CO2消耗量的差异,在2013年11月至2014年5月选取了柏树湾泉、兰花沟泉和后沟泉这3个岩溶泉进行水化学分析及野外监测.结果表明,在上覆植被为林地的柏树湾泉域,泉水的HCO-3浓度最高,草地与耕地下的兰花沟泉次之,耕地为主的后沟泉最低.柏树湾泉的HCO-3主要来自于碳酸对碳酸盐岩的溶蚀,Ca2++Mg2+与HCO-3的摩尔比接近0.5,而兰花沟泉和后沟泉的HCO-3则主要来源于硫酸和硝酸对碳酸盐岩的溶蚀,Ca2++Mg2+与HCO-3的摩尔比远远大于0.5.柏树湾泉域由于凋落物的输入以及土壤透气性差,土壤CO2更容易溶于下渗水并与碳酸盐岩反应,而兰花沟泉和后沟泉的耕地由于土壤疏松,土壤CO2更容易以土壤呼吸的形式返回到大气中.因此,为准确评估岩溶碳汇作用,需要研究不同土地利用类型下碳酸盐岩对CO2消耗量的差异. 相似文献

全球约1/4的饮用水源为岩溶水,但岩溶含水层极易遭受人类活动污染.以八步地下河为例,利用硫酸盐(SO42-)浓度、硫氧同位素(δ34S-SO4和δ18O-SO4)和水中氧同位素(δ18O-H2O)研究岩溶小流域SO42-的丰、枯水期两个季节变化特征和来源.结果表明:①受酸性矿坑水(acid mine drainage,AMD)直接影响的采样点SO42-浓度较高(≥250 mg·L-1),枯水期>丰水期,其他采样点浓度季节变化相对较弱且浓度低.②地表水丰水期δ34S-SO4与δ18O-SO4平均值分别为-10.5‰和4.7‰,枯水期为-11.5‰和1.3‰;地下水丰水期δ34S-SO4与δ18O-SO4平均值分别为-2.9‰和7.1‰,枯水期为-3.2‰和6.2‰.地表水和地下水中δ34S-SO4与δ18O-SO4值都存在丰水期偏重、枯水期偏轻的特征.③丰、枯水期流域内地表水和地下水中各采样点δ34S-SO4值变化不明显,表明在特定的采样点SO42-的来源相对稳定.④地表水和地下水中SO42-主要来源于雨水、硫化物和石膏,地下河出口各来源丰水期所占的比例分别为13%、40%和47%,枯水期为18%、39%和43%. 相似文献

西南喀斯特山区“贫困陷阱”的根本对策在于扭转人口生存领先掠夺土地的状况,生态旅游提供了这们的途径。西南喀斯特地区特有的自然风光和民俗风情等旅游资源优势,通过生态旅游开发,顺理成章地可转换成产品优势,“穷山恶水”就成为“青山绿水”,“穷乡僻壤”就成为“自然生态”和“特色民俗”。这不仅满足现代社会的需求,也使当地的资源潜力得到发挥。而且把资源利用的方式从掠夺、耗竭型转换为可持续型。另一方面,要真正和持续地实现这些资源的价值。必须保护原生态、原文化,这就引入了保护的经济机制.保护与开发的两难悖论可由此突破。本文还以贵州省绥阳县为例,阐述了西南喀斯特山区旅游资源特色和开发生态旅游的目标.为摆脱“贫困陷阱”提供一个示范。 相似文献
