In this study, the activity concentrations of 210Po and 210Pb were determined in mussel samples (Mytilus galloprovincialis) collected from the Turkish coast of the Aegean Sea. The samples were collected seasonally for a period of two years (2004-2006) at six coastal stations (Çanakkale, Dikili, Foça, Çe?me, Didim, Bodrum). Mussels were separated into several groups according to their size (1-4, 4-6, >6 cm). The results showed that 210Po concentrations in mussels varied between 53 ± 4 and 1960 ± 60 Bq kg−1 dw. The highest activity 210Po concentrations were determined in winter samples of mussels with a shell length of 4-6 cm from Didim. In general, it was observed that the 210Pb concentration levels in mussels were lower than 210Po concentrations. The 210Po/210Pb activity concentration ratios exceeded unity for all mussel samples and averaged 26.0. The inter-site differences seen in 210Po concentrations can be due to both the natural background levels of sites and industrial activities.  相似文献

A simple, fast, and low-cost analytical procedure was developed for trace-level determination of inorganic vanadium species by dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction in combination with spectrophotometry. Vanadium in pentavalent form, V(V), was quantitatively extracted into organic phase as 4-(2-pyridylazo)-recorcinol (PAR) complex in the presence of N-cetyl-N,N,N-trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) as counter-ion. Vanadium (IV) was masked with 1,2-diaminocyclohexanetetraacetic acid to allow speciation analysis. Total vanadium was determined after oxidation of V(IV) to V(V). The main factors affecting preconcentration and spectrophotometric detection of vanadium species such as pH, concentration of PAR and CTAB, the type and volume of the extraction, and disperser solvents were optimized. The limit of detection and enhancement factor obtained under optimum conditions were found to be 0.06 μg L?1 and 98, respectively. Relative standard deviations for V(IV) and V(V) at 3.0 μg L?1 were less than 2.4%. The presented procedure was applied to environmental water samples for selective determination of vanadium species. Moreover, the method was applied to determination of vanadium in edible salt samples, due to its applicability in high-NaCl-containing solutions. The validity of proposed method was proven by spike recovery experiments and also independent analysis by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry.  相似文献

The water used in dental unit waterlines (DUWLs) acts as a coolant for the high-speed equipment and as an irrigant during dental treatments. There are kind of water tanks. DUWLs provide a favorable environment for microbial biofilm and multiplation primarily due to the high surface in the tubing and the character of fluid dynamics in narrow, smooth-walled waterlines. Biofilms can harbour opportunist pathogens such as Legionella sp., Pseudomonas sp. Several studies have shown that DUWLs have high levels of microbial contamination. Presence of high level of microbial contamination is an important problem for dentists and dental patients who are immunocompromised. We collected water samples from DUWLs of 20 private dental offices. We have determined that only 2 (3.4%) out of 59 dental unit water samples were found to meet the standard (<200 CFU.ml(-1)) for DUWLs water quality by American Dental Association (ADA). Of the 59 water samples examined, 14 (24%) were positive for Pseudomonas sp. and 18 (30.5%) were positive for fungi. The most common 14 bacterial strains and seven fungi were isolated. Of bacterial strains, 57.1% were identified: Majority of the bacterial species isolated from our samples was identified as Pseudomonas fluorescens, Pasteurella haemolytica, Photobacterium damsela, Ochrobacter anthropi, Moraxella sp., Aspergillus flavus, Penicillium expansum. Legionella sp. were not detected in all water samples.  相似文献

Legionella pneumophila (L. pneumophila) which is also known as etiologic agent Legionnaires Disease lives in natural water and man made water systems. These bacteria belonging to Legionellaceae family are divided 15 serogroups. Phenotypical methods used for the identification of Legionella isolates are not very discriminatory. In this study we investigated genotypic features of eight L. pneumophila serogroup 1 and 18 L. pneumophila serogroup 2-14 strains isolated from different buildings in Istanbul by randomly amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) method. Eight L. pneumophila serogroup 1 strains (37.5%) were similar RAPD profile and they were isolated from buildings located in a short distance (about 500 m). Four L. pneumophila serogroup 2-14 strains (22%) were identical genotypically. Three of these strains were isolated from buildings located in a short distance.  相似文献
