Jundiá (Rhamdia quelen, Quoy and Gaimard), a South American teleostean fish, was exposed to sub-lethal concentrations of cypermethrin (30% and 45% of the 48-h LC(50) value of 0.265 ppm) for 2, 4 or 8 days. Serum biochemical and hematological values and behavioral changes were studied. The 30% LC(50), 0.08 ppm, produced significant increases in Mg(2+), P, K(+), creatinine, urea, glucose, cholesterol, aspartate aminotransferase and alkaline phosphatase levels, and reduction in total proteins and triglycerides in serum. The 45% LC(50), 0.12 ppm, produced significant increase in Na(+), Mg(2+), P, K(+), creatinine, urea, glucose, cholesterol, and alkaline phosphatase, and reduction in triglycerides and alanine aminotransferase levels in serum. At this concentration, the fish showed behavior changes such as hyper-excitability, asphyxia, and widening of mouth and operculum. The hematological values remained normal, except for hemoglobin concentrations and the mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration, which increased with exposure to 0.08 ppm and 0.12 ppm cypermethrin. Results of the present work show that biochemical analysis of serum can be useful to detect incipient cypermethrin intoxication of the shoal.  相似文献

In this paper the inert version of a Lagrangian particle model named photochemical Lagrangian particle model (PLPM) is described and validated. PLPM implements four density reconstruction algorithms based on the kernel density estimator. All these methods are fully grid-free but they differ each other in considering local or global features of the particles distribution, in treating the Cartesian directions separately or together and in being based on receptors or particles positions in space. Each kernel has been shown to have both advantages and disadvantages, but the overall good performances of the model when compared with the well known Copenhagen and Kincaid data sets are very encouraging in view of its extension to fully chemically active simulations, currently under development.  相似文献

Italy is frequently affected by Saharan dust intrusions, which result in high PM10 concentrations in the atmosphere and can cause the exceedances of the PM10 daily limits (50 μg m?3) set by the European Union (EU/2008/50). The estimate of African dust contribution to PM10 concentrations is therefore a key issue in air quality assessment and policy formulation. This study presents a first identification of Saharan dust outbreaks as well as an estimate of the African dust contribution to PM10 concentrations during the period 2003–2005 over Italy. The identification of dust events has been carried out by looking at different sources of information such as monitoring network observations, satellite images, ground measurements of aerosol optical properties, dust model simulations and air mass backward trajectory analysis. The contribution of Saharan dust to PM10 monthly concentrations has been estimated at seven Italian locations. The results are both spatially (with station) and temporally (with month and year) variable, as a consequence of the variability of the meteorological conditions. However, excluding the contribution of severe dust events (21st February 2004, 25th–28th September 2003, 23rd–27th March 2005), the monthly contribution of dust varies approximately between 1 μg m?3 and 10 μg m?3 throughout year 2005 and between 1 μg m?3 and 8 μg m?3 throughout year 2003. In 2004 the dust concentration is lower than 2003 and 2005 (<5 μg m?3 at all sites). The reduction in the number of daily exceedances of the limit value (50 μg m?3) after subtraction of the dust contribution is also calculated at each station: it varies with station between 20% and 50% in 2005 and between 5% and 25% in 2003 and 2004.  相似文献

The dissolution kinetics of humic acid particles has been studied in batch experiments, and the effects of monocarboxylic (formic, acetic, and propionic) acids are reported. The dissolution rate of the particles is significantly affected by the presence of monocarboxylic acids in the pH range 4–10. At pH 7, for example, propionic acid increases 30 times this dissolution rate. The capacity of increasing the dissolution rate is in the order formic acid < acetic acid < propionic acid, and this dissolving capacity of carboxylics seems to be directly related to their affinity for HA molecules located at the surface of the solid particles. The results indicate that carboxylics and related compounds may affect markedly the mobility and transport of humic substances in the environment.  相似文献

Three state of the art traffic–emission–dispersion models dealing with particulate matter have been tested and validated over the Bologna metropolitan area with 2001 data and a future scenario has been developed in order to estimate expected PM concentrations in 2010. The modelling system is composed by a traffic model (VISUM) evaluating vehicle fluxes as a function of mobility demand and road network in the area, an emission model (Trefic) estimating pollutants emitted in atmosphere as a function of vehicle fluxes amount and composition and of environmental conditions and a dispersion model (ADMS) evaluating PM concentrations on the area, given the meteorological variables. The three models compose a cascade sequence and results of the previous one feed the next one. PM concentrations computed by the model suite for the town of Bologna, in northern Italy, for the reference period (January 2001) have been compared with air quality stations measurements suggesting the modelling system being especially suitable for evaluating traffic induced PM. Qualitative and quantitative changes in the circulating vehicle fleet have been supposed in order to obtain a realistic scenario for year 2010. Forecasted concentrations have been then compared with limits fixed by current EU legislation for particulate matter.  相似文献

Characterization of phosphorus (P) enriched solids was undertaken in the sediments below four mature septic system infiltration beds, where previous monitoring of phosphate (PO4) concentrations in the groundwater had indicated that substantial retention of P was occurring in the vadose zone. At each site, zones of sediment P enrichment were identified by an acid extraction procedure. Acid extractable sediment P concentrations were found to be 2–5 times higher than background values, within narrow discrete zones generally 10–30 cm in thickness, located within one meter of the infiltration pipes. Back scattered electron images of the P enriched zones indicated that the P solids occurred as distinct authigenic grains (up to 300 μm diameter) and as grain coatings. Microprobe analyses indicated predominantly Fe–P in calcareous sediments (Cambridge and Langton) and Al–Fe–P in non-calcareous sediments (Muskoka and Harp Lake). Porewater analyses indicated that the zones of P accumulation were closely associated with zones of redox change characterized by the conversion of effluent NH4+ to NO3. The data suggests that a substantial amount of the septic derived P is being attenuated by mineral precipitation reactions that occur rapidly after the effluent encounters subsurface sediments. Reductive dissolution of ferric (oxy)hydroxide minerals as a consequence of reducing environments near the infiltrations pipes, the release of Fe2+ in solution and subsequent conversion of Fe2+ to Fe3+ may promote the precipitation of ferric or ferrosoferric PO4 minerals. In sediments with limited buffering capacity (calcite deficient), the decrease in pH resulting from effluent oxidation may cause Al (oxy)hydroxide dissolution and subsequent precipitation of Al–P rich phases. These precipitation reactions appear to have the capacity to immobilize a substantial amount of septic derived P (25–99% at these sites) for a considerable period of time.  相似文献
