The radiate-accretive growth process of the spongeHaliclona oculata, under different environmental conditions, is simulated in a two-dimensional model with fractal modelling techniques. In this model material is added in layers to the object, and growth velocities attain highest values at its protrusions. With this model some aspects of the growth process can be explained. It is possible to simulate thin-branching growth forms, which are normally found under sheltered conditions, and plate-like forms, which are typical for sites more exposed to water movement. These simulated forms are compared with actual growth forms in order to test the validity of the model.  相似文献

利用Northernblot方法分析了不同碳源条件下草菇切型纤维素酶基因(eg1)的表达.结果发现,在含有纤维素的液体培养基中生长10d,eg1在草菇菌丝中有高效表达;纤维二糖、α-乳糖、β-乳糖,也能诱导eg1的表达,但和纤维素相比,eg1的表达量相对较低,并且它们的诱导效应在加入这类糖12h后迅速减弱;槐糖和龙胆二糖的诱导作用非常弱.在天然稻草为基质的固体栽培料生长时,草菇eg1的表达和草菇菌丝生长与出菇相对应,在菌丝生长期(d8)可见eg1的表达,d12时菌丝已长满,表达减弱,在出菇及菇体的分化及增大期,eg1的表达量逐渐增强,在成熟期达到最高水平;表明在草菇菇体发育中需要更多碳源及能源的补充,eg1在这方面起着非常重要的作用.图4参14  相似文献

In this paper a series of growth forms of the sponge Haliclona oculata, the hydrozoan Millepora alcicornis and the scleractinian coral Pocillopora damicornis are morphologically analysed. The growth forms of these species were collected along a gradient of the amount of water movement. In this analysis it is demonstrated that, although these species are from very different taxonomical groups, the degree of compactness of the growth forms shows a similar trend as a response to the exposure to water movement. In all three species the growth forms gradually change from thin-branching to more compact shapes, as evaluated by measurements of various morphological characteristics. Other morphological measurements, in particular the average distance between branch tips and neighbouring branches (“branch spacing”) show a more species-specific pattern. Species in which fusion of branches is almost never observed, as for example P. damicornis, are characterized by a relatively low standard deviation of branch spacing. Species in which anastomosis frequently occurs (H. oculata and M. alcicornis) are characterized by a relatively high standard deviation in branch spacing. The final aim of this research approach is to use the morphological data acquired here in combination with morphological simulation models to gain a better understanding of the growth and form of these organisms and the impact of the physical environment (hydrodynamics and availability of light required for photosynthesis). In ancient Lake Baikal (East Siberia), freshwater sponges have diversified to an extraordinary degree. The skeleton of Lubomirskia baicalensis, which attains a size of up to 1 m, is constructed from spicules, which are cemented into longitudinal bundles. Our X-ray analysis revealed that the architecture of the specimens follows a highly ordered radiate accretive growth pattern. The spicules have a central axial canal with an axial filament inside. This organic filament is composed of silicatein, the major enzyme involved in silica formation of the spicules. We found that the specific activity of silicatein in samples from the non-growing (basal) zone is much lower than in those from the growth zone (tips) and that even the composition of this molecule differs in these regions. The present study shows for the first time that the turnover of silicatein, the major element of the axial canal of sponge spicules, changes within a sponge specimen depending on the region in which it is found.  相似文献

Infralittoral fringe communities were investigated at 26 stations, in all four seasons (summer 1982, spring, autumn, winter 1983), in different habitats. The investigated habitats can be divided into undersurfaces of boulders, cavelike habitats, crevices between rocks, horizontal and vertical surfaces on rocks. The stations were distributed over four locations, all in the district Pas de Calais, arranged in a sequence of increasing exposure to wave action: Boulogne, Audresselles, Ambleteuse and Cap Gris Nez. Data on quantitative distribution of the biota were collected using quadrat sampling techniques; the data were processed by using cluster analysis. Several communities could be distinguished as separate units, viz. those of undersurfaces of boulders, caves, medium-exposed/exposed vertical/horizontal surfaces. A comparison with previous, preliminary quantitative investigations carried out in 1980 revealed that communities from shaded habitats are apparently stable enough to yield completely reproduceable results. When all habitats are compared, 78% of the samples of 1980 were clustered together with corresponding samples of 1982/1983.  相似文献

The growth form of the sponge Haliclona oculata is to a significant extent determined by the environmental conditions in which the form emerges. One of the main environmental parameters affecting the growth form is exposure to water movement. In this study, a morphological growth model is used to simulate the effect on the growth process of a change in exposure to water movement. Predictions based on the model are verified by experiments in which sponges from a sheltered growth site are transplanted to an exposed site, and vice versa. The effect of the transplantation on growth forms is determined by morphological comparisons. By combining the morphological simulation model with interpretation of growth forms, it becomes possible to use the growth form of H. oculata for bio-monitoring purposes. This form reflects the environmental conditions governing the growth process.  相似文献
