The original Henry problem is characterized with severe (albeit unphysical) sea boundary condition difficult to handle with numerical methods. In this paper, we present an improved numerical solution of the Henry problem. Presented numerical model solves the steady-state dimensionless equations by the collocation method named Fup Fragment Collocation Method (FFCM) and uses R(bf) basis functions of Fup(2) (x, y) type. This method enables application of the classical formulation and high approximation accuracy as proven in comparison with published solutions. Particular difficulty in solving the original Henry problem is in the accurate representation of the seepage face due to the fixed sea concentration at the sea boundary. The results of the original Henry problem formulation and problem with modified boundary conditions indicate the accuracy and robustness of the FFCM in describing the discharge area of the considered problem.  相似文献

This work studies the introduction of cleaner production (CP) in the tank farm of the Pancevo Oil Refinery. From 2003 to 2008, substantial investments in storage technology and equipment were made in order to minimize the emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). This article analyzes the effects of the CP activities using a model of tank farm emissions before and after reconstruction. US EPA TANKS software was used in order to develop a comprehensive model of the tank farm emissions. The year 2006 was accepted as representative for the analyses and related technical and production data as well as meteorological information were employed in the development of the model. The results show that the total VOC emissions were 37.6% lower after reconstruction and that the emissions of the major pollutant benzene were decreased by 62.7%. The effects of the CP activities were analyzed through the reduction of ecological damage, elements related to the operating costs, liability issues and the company's image. Future tank farm reconstruction activities in the Oil Refinery, Pancevo were proposed and their environmental effects predicted. An indicator of the expected decrease in VOC pollution was developed and quantified, with the aim of its use for quick calculations in similar cases.  相似文献

Objective: The objective of our study was to determine the prevalence of alcohol and drug intoxication among fatally injured motorcyclists in a wide urban area of Zagreb, Croatia.

Methods: We conducted a single-center observational retrospective study over a 10-year period (2007–2016) in 3 counties covering an area including 1.2 million residents. We reviewed the records on fatally injured motorcyclists, collecting information relating to sex, age, cause of death, time of death in relation to the time of the crash, and the circumstances of the crash (time of day, day of the week, season). Blood alcohol concentration (BAC) and toxicology analysis results were collected and analyzed.

Results: We identified 163 deaths (95.7% males, 4.3% females). Overall, 64.2% of the victims were 20 to 39 years old. The majority (50.9%) of those fatally injured were responsible for causing the traffic crash; the rest were determined not to be responsible or the responsibility could not be determined. The most frequent causes of death were multiple injuries (55.8%) and isolated head trauma (23.3%). The rider’s BAC was above the legal limit for driving (>0.50?g/kg) in 53.8% of cases, with a mean BAC of 1.91?g/kg. There was no difference in riding a motorcycle with a BAC above the legal limit between groups defined as younger (≤39 years of age) and older (≥40 years of age). The number of people with an illegal BAC was significantly higher during weekends than during the work week. The BAC of riders who were responsible for the crash was significantly higher than that of those who were not responsible or whose responsibility could not be determined. Use of illegal drugs or nontherapeutic use of legal drugs was not common and was detected in 10.4% of fatally injured riders.

Conclusions: Alcohol intoxication has a major role in motorcycle crash–related mortality. A significant difference in BAC between fatally injured riders responsible for the accident and those who were not responsible implies that measures directed toward prevention of drinking and driving behavior could lower the number of fatal motorcycle crashes. Weekend measures, especially during spring and summer, could have particularly significant effects.  相似文献

Aims. The aim of this study was to examine self-perceived compassion fatigue and compassion satisfaction among family physicians in Bosnia and Herzegovina and describe potential contributing factors. Methods. The cross-sectional study enrolled 120 family physicians. Professional quality of life compassion satisfaction and fatigue version 5 (ProQOL5) was used to assess compassion satisfaction and two components of compassion fatigue, secondary traumatic stress and burnout. The symptoms of chronic fatigue were evaluated using the Chalder fatigue scale. Results. The majority of family physicians had moderate levels of compassion satisfaction (70%), burnout (75%) and secondary traumatic stress (55.8%). Family physicians with higher levels of secondary traumatic stress reported chronic fatigue (p?=?0.001), longer length of service (p?=?0.024) and residency training (p?=?0.041). Chronic fatigue (p?=?0.001), living in a rural environment (p?=?0.033), larger size of practice (p?=?0.006) and high number of patients with chronic disease (p?=?0.001) were associated with a higher risk of burnout. Conclusion. Family physicians with large practices, long years of experience, a high number of chronically ill patients and experiencing chronic fatigue are at risk of developing compassion fatigue. A systematic exploration of compassion fatigue in relation to working conditions might provide an appropriate starting point for the development of preventive interventions.  相似文献
