It is a great challenge to sample seawater across interfaces, for example the halocline or the redoxcline, to investigate trace metal distribution. With the use of 10l sampling bottles mounted to a wire or a CTD-Rosette it is possible to obtain a maximum vertical resolution of 5m. For the detection of small vertical structures in the vertical distribution of trace metals across the redoxcline, the CTD-Bottle-Rosette is not sufficient. Therefore, a PUMP-CTD-System was developed, which enables water sampling with high resolution (1m maximum) along a vertical profile. To investigate the suitability and possible contamination sources of this device two experiments were carried out in the Gotland Basin. The first experiment consisted of two separate profiles. The first profile was obtained with the CTD-Bottle-Rosette and the second with the PUMP-CTD-System. Both were taken from the bottom to the surface water layer. The second experiment was a combined profile obtained from the surface to the bottom with the PUMP-CTD-System attached to the CTD-Bottle-Rosette. Concentrations of dissolved Pb, Cd, Cu, Zn, Fe, Mn, Co and Ni from the "Niskin Bottles" and from the PUMP were measured and compared for each investigation. We demonstrate that it is useful to perform vertical sampling from lower to higher concentrations, e.g. surface to bottom in this environment, and that a longer flushing is required for sampling seawater in the anoxic bottom water. A comparison of the two systems for oxygen and hydrogen sulphide measurements showed an improvement of the precision and the quality of the sampling when using the PUMP. Thus, metal speciation at the oxic-anoxic gradient zone and on a high vertical resolution will be accessible. As concentrations of dissolved Pb, Cd, Cu, Zn, Co, Ni, Fe and Mn in seawater sampled with both devices were in the same range, we conclude that the PUMP-CTD-System is well suited to sample seawater for trace metal analyses.  相似文献

Spatially referenced mark-recapture data are becoming increasingly available, but the analysis of such data has remained difficult for a variety of reasons. One of the fundamental problems is that it is difficult to disentangle inherent movement behavior from sampling artifacts. For example, in a typical study design, short distances are sampled more frequently than long distances. Here we present a modeling-based alternative that combines a diffusion-based process model with an observation model to infer the inherent movement behavior of the species from the data. The movement model is based on classifying the landscape into a number of habitat types, and assuming habitat-specific diffusion and mortality parameters, and habitat selection at edges between the habitat types. As the problem is computationally highly intensive, we provide software that implements adaptive Bayesian methods for effective sampling of the posterior distribution. We illustrate the modeling framework by analyzing individual mark-recapture data on the Glanville fritillary butterfly (Melitaea cinxia), and by comparing our results with earlier ones derived from the same data using a purely statistical approach. We use simulated data to perform an analysis of statistical power, examining how accuracy in parameter estimates depends on the amount of data and on the study design. Obtaining precise estimates for movement rates and habitat preferences turns out to be especially challenging, as these parameters can be highly correlated in the posterior density. We show that the parameter estimates can be considerably improved by alternative study designs, such as releasing some of the individuals into the unsuitable matrix, or spending part of the recapture effort in the matrix.  相似文献

Polymer poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) [P(3HB)] has been used as a matrix in slow-release formulations of the herbicide metribuzin (MET). Physical P(3HB)/MET mixtures in the form of solutions, powders, and emulsions were used to construct different metribuzin formulations (films, granules, pellets, and microparticles). SEM, X-Ray, and DSC proved the stability of these formulations incubated in sterile water in vitro for long periods of time (up to 49 days). Metribuzin release from the polymer matrix has been also studied. By varying the shape of formulations (microparticles, granules, films, and pellets), we were able to control the release time of metribuzin, increasing or decreasing it.  相似文献
