Monitoring of organic halogen compounds, measured as adsorbable organically bound bromine (AOBr), in an eutrophic lake, which is influenced by treated waste water, revealed repeatedly high concentrations of organobromine compounds in late summer, whereas five times lower values were measured during the rest of the year. It was possible to reproduce the in situ observed AOBr increase in the laboratory. Batch experiments were performed with lake water from two different lakes and an algae culture. It could be shown that the AOBr production is not limited to strong waste water influenced lakes. Furthermore, the AOBr formation requires light and the presence of algae, and thus is most probably biotic in nature. A low content of nutrients favours the formation of organic bromine compounds. To our knowledge this is the first report about the seasonally occurrence of naturally produced organic bromine compounds in lakes/surface waters. 相似文献

The present work investigates the impacts and mechanisms associated with natural organic matter (NOM) in the Fe0 treatment system of Cu2+ and Zn2+ under roof runoff conditions. The NOM in runoff waters was characterized using XAD-4/8 adsorption resins, copper complexation, acidic capacity and liquid chromatography with online carbon detection. Batch kinetic experiments and flow-through configurations were performed and the results of metal removal were elucidated taking into account the characteristics of NOM. Based on the findings, it is shown that NOM influences the removal of metals through several complex pathways. Wood samples treated with technical pentachlorophenol (PCP), technical sodium pentachlorophenoxide (NaPCP) and octachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin have been exposed outdoors for periods up to years. Analysis of extracts from the samples show that photolytic reductive dechlorination of highly chlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins to less chlorinated isomers occurs. However there is no discernible increase in polychlorodibenzo-p-dioxin concentrations in the technical PCP treated wood presumably because further photolytic reactions and volatilisation compete effectively with the photolytic formation. There is no evidence for formation of octachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (OCDD) in technical PCP treated wood in this study, probably because photolytic destruction and volatilisation compete effectively with formation reactions when the initial OCDD concentration is relatively high. 相似文献
