Using of “pseudo-second-order model” in adsorption

A research paper's contribution exists not only in its originality and creativity but also in its continuity and development for research that follows. However, the author easily ignores it. Citation error and quotation error occurred very frequently in a scientific paper. Numerous researchers use secondary references without knowing the original idea from authors. Sulaymon et al. (Environ Sci Pollut Res 20:3011–3023, 2013) and Spiridon et al. (Environ Sci Pollut Res 20:6367–6381, 2013) presented wrong pseudo-second-order models in Environmental Science and Pollution Research, vol. 20. This comment pointed the errors of the kinetic models and offered information for citing original idea of pseudo-second-order kinetic expression. In order to stop the proliferation of the mistake, it is suggested to cite the original paper for the kinetic model which provided greater accuracy and more details about the kinetic expression.     

Comment on "Removal of heavy metals from aqueous solution by carbon nanotubes: adsorption equilibrium and kinetics" by Li, Y. H., Di, Z.C., Luan, Z.K., Ding, J., Zuo, H., Wu, X.Q., Xu, C.L. and Wu, D.H.

Recently, Li et al. (Li, 2004 ) published the paper entitled as above. In section 2.2: Adsorption kinetics,authors mentioned three kinetic models, the first-order rate equation, pseudo-second-order rate equation, and secondorder rate equation citing a secondary reference (Benguella,2002). However, there are mistakes occurred in this reference(Ho,2004a).     

Scientometric analysis of coastal eutrophication research during the period of 1993 to 2008

No studies were reported on the field of coastal eutrophication research by using bibliometrics. The objective of this study was to evaluate the coastal eutrophication research performance based on all the related articles in Science Citation Index databases from 1993 to 2008. Document type, publication output, authorship, keywords, publication pattern, country, and institute of publication were analyzed. The USA contributed 35.0% of total articles where the ten major industrial countries accounted for the majority of the total production. An indicator citation per publication was presented in this study to evaluate the impact of number of authors, institutes, countries, and journals. The mean value of citation per publication of collaborative papers was higher than that of single country or institute publications. Collaboration trend was toward multi-authors, multi-institutes and multi-countries papers. This was coincident with the research trends of coastal eutrophication, which was thought to be a component of global change. Additionally, keywords analysis was used to indicate the formation and shift of hot research.
