In this study a small-scale technique for direct analysis of metabolic conjugates of 4,5,6-trichloro- (CG-3) and tetrachloroguaiacols (CG-4) in fish bile by RP-HPLC is presented. Only one metabolite, glucuronic acid conjugate, was demonstrated in two Lake Baikal fishes (Leuciscus leuciscus baikalensis and Cottus kessleri) exposed to CG-3 or CG-4 at 6 degrees C for 1-2 days. In Leuciscus the ratio between free CG-4 in the ambient water and conjugated CG-4 in the bile averaged 264,000. Intraperitoneal injections of tetrachloroveratrol (CV-4) into Thymallus arcticus baikalensis did not reveal any traces of free CV-4 or CG-4 glucuronide in the bile in 2 days at 5 degrees C. We therefore suggest that CV-4 was not demethylated and subsequently conjugated with glucuronic acid in the liver of this fish species.  相似文献

Food is considered to be the main source of dioxins (PCDDs) and dibenzofurans (PCDFs) for human intake, but there are relatively few publications reporting the levels of dioxins and furans in food samples.(1–4) Food samples from western to eastern Russia were collected during three recent trips by one of us (AS), and tested for dioxins and dibenzofurans to provide some indication of environmental contamination. The results show that in specific food samples there are more dioxins present than dibenzofurans, but in fish samples the opposite is true. We compare the levels found in Russian food with levels found in samples from other countries, on both wet weight and lipid basis. These Russian samples show ranges similar to but slightly lower than those seen in other industrial countries.  相似文献

On-site measurement of methanethiol (CH3SH) was performed for three years on ships and cars near a pulp and paper plant standing on the shore of Lake Baikal in Siberia, Russia, to investigate the behavior and impact of atmospheric CH3SH emitted from a point source. Despite its strong odor, there are few reports on atmospheric CH3SH, while many investigations have been carried out on dimethyl sulfide (DMS). In this work, CH3SH and DMS were measured every 15 min by a recently developed automated instrument based on single column trapping/separation and chemiluminescence measurement. Hydrogen sulfide, sulfur dioxide and ozone were also measured simultaneously by individual instruments. Of these sulfur compounds, CH3SH was dominant and its concentration sometimes reached several tens of ppbv. The concentration of CH3SH was high at night, because of the lack of photodecomposition and local winds from the mountain to the lake. Such time variation was marked in the summer. The CH3SH level decreased significantly downwind, while decreases in concentrations of other compounds such as DMS and SO2 were relatively small. From these temporal and spatial variations, the behavior of CH3SH is described in this paper. The impact of CH3SH near the Siberian big sources is discussed with the presented data.  相似文献

Organically bound chlorine (OCl) together with inorganic chloride (Cl) was measured from bottom surface samples of the Lake Baikal near a pulp mill and compared to organic matter contents (OM). Although total contents of OCl, Cl and OM were much lower than, the ratio of OCl to OM was of the same order of magnitude as in pulp mill recipients of Finland.  相似文献
