Abstract Four test groups of small songbirds (Zebra Finch, Poephila guttata) were sprayed in a chamber with varying concentrations of fenitrothion. Exposure levels were assessed by monitoring air concentrations, deposits of the active ingredient (AI) on glass plates and droplets/cm2 on Kromekote® cards. All indices of exposure were linearly correlated and the mean AI deposit on glass plates for the four groups tested were equivalent to 38, 51, 139 and 255 g/ha or 14%, 18%, 50% and 91% of the highest permissible emitted rate for broadscale forest spraying in Canada. Significant depression in body weights and brain acetylcholinesterase levels were noted only for the highest exposure group. Fenitrothion residues in blood were detectable only at the highest exposure level, and in liver at the two higher levels. Carcass and feather residues were much higher than those in blood and liver, and were detectable at all exposure levels but the residues did not increase linearly with exposure. For one of the spray groups, we were able to compute an equivalent acute oral dose based on matching acetylcholinesterase inhibition. 相似文献

Abstract The three S‐n‐propyl phosphates and phosphothioates: RH 218, profenofos and prothiophos were compared with fenitrothion in their potential as inhibitors of rat liver and brain AChE. Fenitrothion was more potent as an inhibitor than the three S‐n‐propyl derivatives. Incubation of hepatic protein enhanced ChE inhibition in brain in the case of fenitrothion, while it reduced the inhibitory effect of the S‐n‐propyl derivatives. On the other hand, the four organophosphorus esters caused hypoglycemia in both male and female rats and also reduced their blood urea with different degrees. 相似文献

The persistence of atrazine, linuron and fenitrothion in soil samples from an estuarine area (Ebro delta, Tarragona, Spain) has been studied. Soil samples from the top surface (10 cm) were collected during 1989–91, freeze‐dried, sieved through 200 μm, Soxhlet extracted with methanol, cleaned‐up with Florisil and analysed either by gas chromatography‐nitrogen phosphorus detection (GC‐NPD), in the case of atrazine and fenitrothion, or by liquid chromatography with diode array detection (LC‐DAD), for linuron. Confirmation of the samples analysed by GC‐NPD was carried out using GC‐mass spectrometric detection (MS) in the electron impact mode. The soil half lives obtained under the real environmental conditions have been calculated and the values obtained have been correlated with the physicochemical properties of each pesticide and the soil type. Degradation was affected by volatilization since temperatures in the area of study are relatively high, ca. 30°C, in the summer period. In the case of atrazine it has been shown that deethylatrazine is formed in all the samples studied.. 相似文献

Abstract Fenitrothion and aminocarb formulations were aerially sprayed over mixed coniferous forests near Fredericton and Bathurst, New Brunswick, Canada. Insecticide concentrations inside the spray blocks were measured at intervals of time by trapping the airborne toxicants in a fritted‐glass bubbler containing dimethylformamide (DMF). The residues in DMF were analysed by gas chromatography. Concentrations of the insecticides in the air sampled decreased rapidly with time from peak levels of 1997 ng/m3 (fenitrothion) and 1201 ng/m3 (aminocarb). Concentrations of the two insecticides in the air samplers were dependent upon the nature of the chemicals, type of formulation used, spray timings and other environmental factors. 相似文献

Abstract This paper describes the results from a pesticide residue survey conducted in relation to the 1980 spraying of insecticides in New Brunswick (Canada) to preserve the coniferous forest from an on‐going spruce buciworm infestation. A total of 465 water and air samples were collected from 12 sites throughout the Province. In water, fenitrothion was usually detected at about the same time that spraying occurred in the immediate area of the sites. The maximum that was ever detected was 2 0.0 ppb and persistence was usually United to a few days except in a small pond where fenitrothion was detected for a total of 18 consecutive days. Aminofenitrothion was also detected at a maximum of 8.0 ppb. Fenitrothion was only detected occasionally in air samples the maximum being 1.2 ng/dm3. However, aminofenitrothion was present in several air samples at c. maximum of 12.0 ng/dm 3. 相似文献

Abstract The effect of two sublethal fenitrothion concentrations (0.02 and 0.04 mg/L) on the energy metabolism of the european eel Anguilla anguilla and its recovery from intoxication was investigated. Analysis of various parameters such as glycogen, proteins and total lipids was made on liver and muscle eel tissues after 2, 8, 12, 24, 32, 48, 56, 72 and 96 hr of fenitrothion (0,0‐dimethyl 0–3‐methyl‐4‐nitrophenyl phosphorothioate) exposure. Subsequently, the fish were allowed recovery periods of 8, 12, 24, 48, 72, 96, 144 and 192 hr in clean water, and the same parameters were again evaluated. The results obtained during the exposure to the pesticide as well as during the recovery phase were used to calculate the caloric content in both tissues of A. anguilla. A reduction in energy reserves in the selected tissues was observed after exposure to both fenitrothion concentrations and the caloric content in those animals was lower than in the controls. Most of the metabolic disorders did not persist after allowing recovery in clean water during a week. 相似文献

Abstract Wine and Arak, the national alcoholic drink in Lebanon, were prepared from grape juice fortified with fenitrothion to a concentration of 20ppm. Samples of the 11 fractions produced by the fermentation and distillation steps were analyzed for fenitrothion residues using gas chromatography (GC) and enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Results of residue analyses showed that the two techniques were highly correlated (r = 0.978) and indicated that fenitrothion was stable during the fermentation steps but not during distillation. The clarified wine 35 days later contained about 85% (15.3 ppm) of the fenitrothion concentration found in the juice as determined by GC analysis. Arak was prepared by a two‐steps distillation of the clarified wine. The alcohol distillate and undistilled fraction from the first distillation contained 2.5 ppm and 5.8 ppm of fenitrothion, respectively. No fenitrothion residues were detected by both techniques in the four fractions collected from the second distillation step. 相似文献
