Trophoblast-like cells sorted from peripheral maternal blood using flow cytometry: A multiparametric study involving transmission electron microscopy and fetal dna amplification

Three monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) against trophoblast (GB17, GB21, and GB25) and flow cytometry were used to sort trophoblast-like cells (TLCs) from peripheral blood of pregnant women. Sorted TLCs were processed for electron microscopy and fetal DNA amplification of the Y-specific sequences from mothers carrying male fetuses. At the ultra-structural level, most of the nucleated cells had the morphology of leucocytes, suggesting maternal contaminants, and we did not find the characteristic features of the free inter-villous trophoblast cells. Nevertheless, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) analysis showed an amplification of Y-specific sequences in two out of three samples of sorted TLCs. These results suggest that besides the maternal leucocytes, sufficient trophoblast nucleated fetal cells can be obtained using cell enrichment by sorting. This sensitive method holds promise for non-invasive prenatal diagnosis of fetal sex and if sufficient Y(positive) nuclei are found, for the diagnosis of selected numerical chromosome abnormalities.     

Climate hazards: Lessons from recent events in the United States

Three recent cases of climate extremes are studied to identify human impacts and response strategies and to identify common characteristics that may help illuminate the nature of climate hazards. The 1980 heat wave in the central United States, 1981 cold wave in Boston, Massachusetts, and recent flooding and lake level rise in northern Utah, illustrate several important aspects of climate hazards that separate them from the more traditional set of catastrophic events (e.g. tornadoes, hurricanes and earthquakes) usually dealt with by hazards research and management. Among those characteristics are an emphasis on health impacts rather than physical damage, accumulative effects rather than short shocks, a tendency for impacts to accrue to certain socio-economic classes, and relatively slow onset. The management and research implications of these hazard characteristics are explored.     

垃圾转运站污水回用处理工艺设计

垃圾转运站污水回用处理采用了膜 -生物反应器处理工艺 ,它具有高效、稳定、工艺流程简单、设备占地面积小和投资少等优点 ,且处理后出水可用于自身站内所需 ,即冲车、喷洒道路、冲厕、绿化、冲刷车间地面等多种用途 ,实现了污水处理后再利用的目的。     

滇池沿岸农村固体废物污染调查研究 --呈贡县大渔乡案例分析

以呈贡县大渔乡为案例,调查分析了区域农村固体废物的来源、产生量、成分和处理处置现状,引入了固体废弃物潜在污染负荷指数。     

高锰酸钾与接触氧化协同除锰及硬度对除锰效果的影响

针对日益严重的地表水锰污染，本实验采用高锰酸钾与接触氧化的方法协同除锰；通过调配进水中Ca²⁺、Mg²⁺含量模拟我国不同地区硬度差异显著的地表水，探究水体硬度对锰的去除效果的影响.结果表明：Mn²⁺被高锰酸钾氧化并形成"锰质活性滤膜"，可在停药后实现稳定有效除锰.成熟滤池的除锰效果会显著受到硬度的影响，进水硬度在40、200、400 mg·L^-1及700 mg·L^-1（CaCO₃计）时，接触氧化滤池分别在48、56、64 d及72 d实现稳定除锰，而4根滤柱对Mn²⁺去除的极限浓度分别为1.8、1.7、1.2 mg·L^-1及0.7 mg·L^-1.     

焚烧废气处理试验研究

介绍了有毒有害焚烧废气处理的原理及工艺流程,分析了焚烧废气中粉尘、HCl和NOx去除的原理,根据焚烧废气处理的试验结果,探讨了影响处理效果的因素.试验表明,在试验条件下,焚烧废气中的粉尘、NOx、HCl在吸收塔均达到较高的去除效率,其中粉尘的去除效率92%;NOx的去除效率平均58%,高的可达80%;HCl的去除效率平均达87%.随着液气比增大,其各种污染物的去除效率有所增加.     

转炉污泥干法脱硫新技术应用

采用转炉污泥取代铸铁屑配制焦炉煤气脱硫剂,转炉污泥与稻壳体积配比为1∶2,水分30%～40%,pH值8～10。经过生产实践证明,脱硫效率达到996%～998%。既降低了煤气生产成本,减轻工人劳动强度,又提高了民用煤气质量,具有可观的环境效益与经济效益。     

微量营养物质对有机废水厌氧消化过程的调控作用

通过向处理酸性葡萄酒蒸馏废水的厌氧移动床生物膜反应器中投加微量营养物质的试验,得出利用微量营养物质调控厌氧消化过程在技术上是可行的。Fe、Ni、Co组合不仅能加快挥发性有机酸(VFA),特别是丙酸的降解速率,进而提高厌氧反应器的溶解COD去除率,同时,还有利于厌氧反应器有机负荷的快速提升和较强pH缓冲能力的形成。B族维生素对厌氧移动床生物膜反应器运行效果影响不大。Fe对厌氧移动床生物膜反应器运行有一定影响,但效果也不十分明显。
