| Abstract: | A laboratory experiment shows that exopolymer (=mucopolysaccharide) produced by the estuarine marine bacterium Pseudomonas atlantica can be a source of nutrition for the deposit-feeding holothurian Isostichopus badionotus (Selenka). Holothurians fed sediment prepared with 14C-labeled exopolymer incorporated radioactive carbon into their rete mirabile. |
