Abstract: | Field observations indicating that uniform gas flow at the precipitator outlet may not result in best performance led to a study of how reentrainment and changes in gas distribution within a precipitator affect performance. A computer model developed in the study predicts that an improvement over uniform flow performance is possible by using controlled nonuniform gas distributions at both the inlet and the outlet faces of the precipitator. The model was used to study how changes in precipitator side view geometry affect performance and offers explanations for the reduction in precipitation constants experienced with larger installations. |
