Abstract: | A Lagrangian model for photochemical oxidants has been developed in order to study ozone formation in the boundary layer over Europe for periods of one month to one year. The model has so far been applied during July 1985. Modelled ozone concentrations agree favourably with measured concentrations at most sites. The sensitivity of the calculated ozone concentrations to assumptions concerning natural volatile organic compounds (VOC) emissions, boundary conditions, cloud effects and a number of other processes is illustrated. The effects of changes in emissions of anthropogenic VOC and nitrogen oxides on maximum and monthly mean ozone concentrations are calculated. |
