Abstract: | The highest concentrations of airborne pollution are usually found close to the source, but occasional large depositions are found, in certain meteorological situations, at great distances but then only within a rather small area, where showery rainout, a stationary front, or a cloud droplet scavenging mechanism is present. Dispersion may be quite slight during a sea crossing. Transport over distances of more than 1000 km in the European area have been identified by satellite or by tracking radioactive pollution. |
