| Abstract: | An extremely sensitive assay has been developed for DNA-damaging chemicals using a DNA repair-deficient strain of Escherichia coli. Considerable DNA-damaging activity has been demonstrated by this assay in natural surface-water samples and in diesel-exhaust particulate extracts. |
