Removal and recovery of creosote sludge at a wood treatment plant
Authors:Brent Defeo
Abstract:Off-site reclamation and incineration of residues proved to be the most efficient and cost-effective solution for remediation of the Broderick Wood Products Superfund site, a closed-down wood-preserving plant outside of Denver, Colorado. More than 3,200 cubic yards of hazardous K001 creosote sludge were removed and recovered at a total cost of only $3.1 million.
