Abstract:In an attempt to enhance the effect of air sparging, series experiments were designed to investigate the influence zone of surfactant-enhance air sparging(SEAS) in homogeneous medium and heterogeneous medium using sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate (SDBS). The tests showed that air sparging influence zone was increased significantly with adding surfactant for coarse sand. However, the influence zone was not changed significantly with adding surfactant for gravel. Additionally, the sparging air could get into low permeable medium with the hydraulic conductivity of 8.1×10-4 m•s-1with adding SDBS 1000mg/L when hydraulic conductivity of high permeable medium was 6.4×10-3 m•s-1. These experimental results provide reference for the field application in surfactant-enhance air sparging.
