| Abstract: | Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB's) react readily with alkyl mercaptans in non-polar solvents such as toluene or transformer oil. Reactions occur readily with KOH as the base in the presence of a variety of phase transfer catalysts, including phosphonium salts, crown ethers, and poly (ethylene glycols). |
