Abstract:The total number of particles, particle size and shape, as well as particle size distribution have been studied for the fallout dust in the atmosphere of Qena (upper Egypt). Dust particles were collected directly on slides for microscopic analysis at two collection sites. The frequency distribution of sizes is plotted against equal intervals of size. The results shwo that the highest percentage of particles have size < 5 μm and are of irregular shape. The high degree of similarly between the PSD results indicates a small variability in atmospheric conditions in Qena during the period of study. The effective mean particle diameters were calculated.
