Abstract: | In this study we define for the first time the distribution of alpha-fetoprotein levels and acetylcholinesterase ratios in amniotic fluid samples associated with fetal gastroschisis. Elevated alpha-fetoprotein levels and positive acetylcholinesterase measurements are found in virtually all cases, indicating that these combined measurements are highly reliable in detecting this lesion. |
