Abstract:Humic substance (including fulvic acid that is soluble in acid and base, and humic acid that is only soluble in base but insoluble in acid) from sediments in Baiyangdian was extracted and characterized by elementary analysis, IR, UV,FL, and EPR. The results showed that there are -COOH, -OH,and benzene rings in the structures of FA and HA. Exposure of the system to simulated sunlight, FA concentration in the 10ppm FA system reduceds rapidly. A great number of singlet oxygen and free radicals produced in the process. Fe 2+ ,Fe 3+ ,and Al 3+ , especial the former two ions, can accelerate the process.
