Abstract:An investigation is made into the biases inherent in prevailing visibility observations and a method is proposed for removing these biases in order to rectify the visibility statistics for a station. Using these rectified statistics, the dependence of visibility on relative humidity is examined for five stations in or near New Jersey. The data are found to conform fairly well with a physical model.
