Abstract: | The retention of SO2 by nylon filters was determined in laboratory and field studies. Less than 4% of the SO2 was retained by nylon filters manufactured before May 1984. A change in filter material at that time appears to have greatly increased the retention of SO2 to values as high as 70%. Therefore, the SO2 retention by a nylon filter preceding an SO2 collection filter must be taken into account. Some organic sulfur compounds may also be retained on nylon filters. |
