Oxygen Restoration of Polluted Water with Pure Oxygen Aeration

Pure oxygen aeration for oxygen restoration is one of the effective countermeasures to clean up dark and foul water in polluted river. As pure oxygen pressure is much higher than atmospheric oxygen partial pressure, the oxygen transfer rate in oxygen aeration process is remarkably raised. In the BIOX process, which was developed by Messer group, the pure oxygen aeration mat composed with fine bubble hoses is used and the oxygen utilization rate reaches 80% at water depth of 5 meter. Through a lot of successful application cases to a pilot trial in downstream of Xinjinggang of Suzhou Creek, the results demonstrated that the outstanding features of the process are: simple equipment, safe and reliable in operation, minimum maintenance, no noise and no distribution effects on flow pattern of the river. Therefore this process is especially suitable for the river sections which flow across the urban areas that have busy traffic and tourist attractions.
