Application of Environmental Magnetism to Urban Pollution Study

Environmental Magnetism is a newly developed interdiscipline among Earth Science, Magnetism and Environmental Science. As the magnetic measurements are easy, quick, sensitive, repeatable and cheaper, it has been applied to many research areas. Urban pollution study is one of the important applications for Environmental Magnetism. This paper attempted to give a brief introduction on the principles of Environmental Magnetism and the main application fields to urban pollution studies, including environmental pollution indication, heavy metal pollution monitoring, source identification of atmospheric particulates and the study of pollution history.
