Herbage dynamics of some semi-arid Indian grazing lands

This paper reports a time-varying coefficient, open, linear compartment model of herbage dynamics for some semi-arid Indian grazing lands with different grazing treatments. The objectives were to arrive at suitable transfer coefficients in order to approximate the pattern of changes in the compartment values and to indicate the time intervals in which these coefficients are most likely to vary. The modelling endeavour fulfilled these objectives and indicated some underlying differences in ecosystem functioning on these grazing lands.
