COMPREHENSIVE STUDY OF NATURAL DISASTERS IN BEIJING AREA

The formation,evolution and development of severe natural disasters, as well as their emergent mechanisms and interactions are co--played by multiple factors and are interrelated with the multiple sectors of sciences.which arc used to be treated by separate ways of sciences and technologically.But the emergency of natural disasters is by no means controlled by the idea of human mind.Since the begining of 1990's,in order to take part in the International Decade for Natural Disaster Reduction and to promote the Disaster Reduction in Beijing Area as well,a series of comprehensive studies on the heavy rains,the floods and the droughts,the earthquakes,the severe convective storms,the subsidence of ground surface, agricultural disasters,and the rapid transfer of informations are carried out.The main topics of current study are as following:(1)the general occurrences and the features of natural disasters in Beijing area;(2)the severe(disastrous) events in the past 2000 years;(3)the composite diagrams and maps of the(disaster)prevalent area;(4)the interrelationship and the key linkages among the events;(5)some efficiencics and suggestions on the forecast,prediction and the prevention and treation on disasters.
