Alternative Automobile Fuels and Its Application Prospect

Several kinds of alternative automobile fuels, such as hydrogen, methanol, ethanol, natural gas (NG), liquid petroleum gas (LPG), reformulated gasoline, and electricity etc. have been developed and used. Their characters were introduced in the article. Pollutant emissions, cost and energy consumption were being compared with these clean, new fuels and gasoline. It showed that NG and LPG are the most eminent alternative fuels recently, these clean, new alternative fuels have been used in the U.S.A, Japan and Europe.
