ENVIRONMENT AND SAFETY OF QINGHAI-TIBET RAILWAY

The paper aims to give a primary summary for the construction environment characteristic of Qinghai Tibet Railway with its focus on analyzing the negative influence of the weather and the severe cold temperature plateau environment on the safety of the train movement and the entire railway transportation. However, it is the severe plateau environment and the railway construction that constitute an inseparable mutually interactive system. The authors of the paper also put forward a series of countermeasures on the two sides, i.e. the adversary influence of the plateau environment on the railway safety and construction as well as the transportation control and management in the long run. Therefore, the paper can be said to entail great significance to ensure the railway construction safety and the plateau environment protection.
