| Abstract: | Facing the world development trends and the high tide of housing construction in China, the 21st century housing construction should embody the concept of sustainable development, introduce high technology including the information technology and new materials, and suit the social development and meet the needs of living. Following a brief exposition of the world development trends, national housing construction target and the problems existing in the technical aspect of housing construction, the guidelines of planning and designing for the human settlement towards the 21st century were emphatically discussed in the paper. |
