Abstract: | About 20 species of zooplankters (copepods, mysids, euphausiids, sergestids, and Scyphomedusae) are commercially fished and utilised as food or feed today. The annual world catch of crustacean zooplankton is probably a little less than 210,000 tons and accounts for 11% of the total crustacean catch in the world. The present status of plankton harvesting in various parts of the world is described. Problems in development of plankton fisheries are discussed. |
