Abstract:In a train compartment,the air quality inside mainly affects the health and comfort degree of passengers.The organic components released by the interior materials fitted in an enclosed compartment are the main pollutants that affect the ambient air quality in the compartment.In order to study the distribution and diffusion mechanism of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in a train compartment,the environmental test chamber method is operated in this research to detect the VOCs release rate of the main interior materials (such as seat cushion,PVC floor,and wallboard) of a 25G train compartment.The results show that under the same conditions,the release rate and the types of VOCs with regard to different materials are significantly distinctive.Changing conditions such as temperature and/or relative humidity has regular and tremendous influence on the VOCs release rate of interior materials.This study contemplates that temperature and relative humidity affect the vapor pressure and diffusion coefficient of VOCs,which in turn affects their release rate.Fluent simulation results show that different release sites of interior materials have different effects on TVOC(Total Votatile Organic Compound) concentration at the respiratory interface,and the closer the distance,the greater the effect.Fresh air ventilation into the train compartment can effectively reduce TVOC concentration.
