Abstract: | DDT and benzoa]pyrene (BaP) were added both separately and as a mixture to filtered (0.22 μm) humic surface water samples. Following a contact time of 1 d, the fraction bound to dissolved organic matter and the freely dissolved part were separated by using reversed-phase octadecyl silica cartridges. The enriched solutes were analysed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry in the selective ion monitoring (GC-MS/SIM) mode. Partition coefficients to dissolved organic matter, calculated on the basis of the recovery data, varied between 2.0 × 104 and 6.6 × 104 mL/g for BaP depending on the experimental conditions, whereas the corresponding values for DDT (0.6 × 104 mL/g) showed no significant variation. |
