Abstract:The combined system of soil treatment and nanofiltration was used to treat reclaimed wastewater in order to guarantee the water safety for groundwater recharge. In this study, the removal efficiencies of organic and inorganic matters by the combined system and membrane fouling control mechanism by the soil treatment were discussed. The results demonstrated that 22% of DOC and 20% of UV254 could be removed by the soil treatment. Ozonation could remove 51% of UV254 value, and enhanced DOC removal efficiency of the soil treatment to 52%. The removal efficiencies of DOC and UV254 by NF270 were 72%~83% and 75%~84%, respectively. DOC of NF270 permeate was below 1.0 mg/L. NF270 shows 40%~50% removal efficiency of conductivity, which could reduce the negative effects of dissolved solids on soil and groundwater. 3DEEM spectrum showed that protein-like substance was the main membrane foulant, which could be effectively removed by the soil treatment from reclaimed wastewater.
