Struktur-Aktivitätsbeziehungen (QSAR)

The correlation between the bioconcentration (BCF) of 20 pesticides and 3 PCB-congeners from two test soils in earthworms (Lumbricus terrestris) and the corresponding log K_ow was investigated. The relationship, expressed by the equation log BCF=a· log K_ow+b, did not show strong statistical correlation, especially for the soil with higher organic matter content. However, strong statistical correlation could be demonstrated between log BCF and log K_ow for both soils when the bioconcentration in earthworms was calculated on the basis of interstitial water instead of soil. The resulting equations represent a useful tool for assessing the bioaccumulation potential of organic chemical in soil.
